Responsibilities:

  • ENKON created an integrated Land Titles System for the Government of Botswana called LIS (Land Information System). Currently, Botswana has many limited systems with many manual paper based processes.
  • Responsible for migrating all existing data from 7 different systems into LIS for the initial production release and is responsible for setting up integration interfaces with another 8 different systems when in production.
  • Role has involved travelling to Africa and consulting with the highest levels of Officials in the Government of Botswana to gather and analyze requirements.
  • The list of Officials consulted with include the Permanent Secretary of Botswana, Surveyor General of Botswana, Directors and other Departmental Heads, Technical Architects, Programmers, DBA’s, and Analysts.

  • Senior Consultant for Teradata’s DCM (Demand Chain Management) product.
  • The DCM solution is designed to manage and improve inventory management and forecasting at the retail level.

  • Data Architect responsible for implementing Boeing’s C ommon Data Warehouse that has approximately 40 source systems using various technologies such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc. integrated into a single Teradata Data Warehouse.
  • Work included temporal design and implementation, performance analysis, physical design, SQL optimization, DBQL reporting, Cognos BI Analysis, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Architecture role also included but not limited to ownership of documents/specifications (P+/Macroscope), making final decisions on implementation decisions, ownership of schema promotion process from the Physical Data Model in Erwin, briefing management team on architectural direction and project development status, quarterly capacity forecasting (CPU and Disk), and assisting with and buying off on database upgrades.
  • To implement this data architect role had to understand how the Teradata Cost Based Optimizer works and had to work on performance tuning and monitoring using Viewpoint, PMON, DBQL, and TASM. Queries performance improvements made by using appropriate indices such as UPI, NUPI, NUPI, NUSI, partitioning, JI’s, temporary tables, statistics, etc. as well as re-writing SQL statements to make them more efficient.
