Confidential
Data Warehousing Designer
Responsibilities:- Analyzed the technical specification and the mapping document to determine the ETL design.
- Profiled the source system data (in Oracle tables) to understand the data contents and the structure.
- Analyzed the source and the target data models to understand the structure metadata - relationships, constraints, Primary Keys (PK), Referential Integrity/Foreign Keys, Natural Keys, and other technical fields such as Surrogate Keys, Load/Update Dates etc.
- Developed datastage jobs to load transient staging tables (truncate and load daily)
- Created unit test scripts
- Created reconciliation scripts to ensure data was loaded into the staging tables completely and accurately. This included row count reconciliation, comparison of hash total of numerical values, and comparison of code values between source and target.
- Developed jobs to load data from the staging tables to the Data Warehouse using SCD type 0 (Always insert) and SCD type 2 (maintaining history of changes) techniques.
- Creation rejection datasets from Lookup, transformer, and Connector stages to identify source data inconsistency and subsequent resolution.
- Participated in peer reviews of the jobs and addressed the review comments
- Prepared documents describing jobs and contributed Runbook.
- Developed Sequence jobs
- Applied ETL best practices in the development of datastage jobs. The objectives are to achieve reusability, Restartability/recoverability, maintainability, performance optimization, and last but not the least maintaining presentability of the jobs.
