Plymouth Meeting, PA

ETL/Data Warehouse Developer

Responsibilities:
  • Streamlined Pharmaceutical Data Warehouse Analysis and Report Delivery by rewriting Oracle Stored Procedures, Microsoft SQL Server Stored Procedures, and Microsoft Excel Visual Basic Macros to achieve time savings in excess of 80%.
  • Created several Client Deliverable studies involving historical and future Pharmaceutical Data, analyzed through Oracle PL/SQL, and delivered though Microsoft Excel/Access data and dynamic charts. Productionized the deliverables and transferred control to Production Department for ongoing delivery.
  • Created parameter-driven Compliance and Persistency Study application for Pure Custom studies as well as Custom Microstrategy Data Mart studies. Parameter driven software allowed the user to create almost any CnP scenario, nearly removing the developer from the process. Logging, exception handling, and email functionality enabled the user to kick off a study and perform other tasks until receiving a success or failure email.
  • Created Standard Library of Procedures and Functions with Invoker Rights to modularize custom development of Client Deliverables. Standard Library enabled faster turnaround times for Client Deliverables due to reduced development effort. Quality Control (QC) time was also reduced due to the decrease in pure custom code producing the Client Deliverable.
  • Created parameter-driven Feasibility tool which allowed Business Analysts to answer Pharmaceutical Client feasibility questions without developer involvement. Using an Excel interface connected to an Oracle database, the user could define their RX/DX Market, modify several parameters, and simply press a button in order to determine whether enough sample data existed to develop a complete study. Previously, developers spent 1-3 days producing the feasibility result instead of their current workload.
  • Created Dimension Maker which allowed developers to describe their reporting dimensions in an Excel spreadsheet and press a button to create standard sets of tables in their Oracle schema preloaded with data, saving much time.
  • Created parameter-driven Cohort Builder tool which allowed developers to create a Custom Study Cohort simply by modifying several parameters and calling a Stored Procedure. A user, including a developer, would use the Feasibility tool to assess the Feasibility, and then use the Cohort Builder tool to build the Patient Sample. Cohort Builder would subject the initial Patient Sample to Standard Methodology practices, such as Patient Eligibility, Pharmacy Stability, and Provider Stability, which would virtually eliminate trend breaks due to data sources coming online or going offline.
