Responsibilities:

  • Worked for Confidential, a direct marketing company in core systems.
  • The systems worked on included Convert, which is a set of assembler programs that convert a customer's file into Confidential format, Value Counts, which is a set of C programs that give a customer a better idea of the type of data that has been selected for mailing campaigns, and Revert, which is the opposite of Convert, that is, it's a system that puts data that has been massaged by Confidential into a specific customer's output format.
  • Applications were designed to run on the mainframe, and were written exclusively in C and Assembler.

Responsibilities:

  • Worked on the ETL portion of a data warehouse called Confidential, which is written mostly in C, Korn Shell scripts, DB2 SQL, and some SAS.

Responsibilities:

  • Worked on the design, original implementation, maintenance, testing, trouble - shooting and sun-setting of the back-end of a 3-Tier Client/Server application called Confidential Services Assistant Tool), which is an application used by internal sales at Confidential, and external Business Partners of Confidential, to assist in price quotes and the eventual contracting of Services and Hardware Maintenance Contracts with Confidential in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Originally, our OS platform was OS/2, but that soon changed to AIX. The server programs are written to run under Confidential, almost entirely in PL/I (some C) the database used has been DB2 (surprise ), and the updates and maintenance of the DB were implemented on AIX with Korn shell scripts.
  • The front-end was written in Java, with Swing as the framework. Communication between tiers was handled by MQSeries.

Responsibilities:

  • Assignment involved maintenance and support of Confidential (Credit and Collections System).
  • The work was done using MicroFocus Cobol in a Confidential, DB2 environment, all running on an RS6000 with AIX 4.1.4 as the OS.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities included coding, testing, and maintenance of batch and on-line order entry system, and its ancillary VSAM control files.
  • Languages used for coding included 370 Assembler (heavy), Cobol (moderate), PL/I (moderate), QuikJob (moderate to heavy), RPG II (heavy).
  • Also extensively used MVS JCL and IDCAMS. Worked on PC front-end version of mainframe order entry, using C.
  • Developed, in C, and supported a back-end product which was an interface between Confidential ’s order entry system and Federal Express’ Powership Plus, for use by Confidential ’s shipping department.
  • Developed Confidential Control File, a rudimentary data dictionary) Service, which is a Confidential Service written in SAS C and 370 Assembler, that allows users on other platforms to easily access the Confidential .
