Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building a greenfield MSS service for state government and commercial customers.
  • Accountable for and created the vision for the MSS service and Security Operations Center build out to include designing the facilities and data centers; hiring all personnel; creation of service strategy, service catalog, budget, pricing models, CONOPS/SOP and all other aspects.
  • Other responsibilities include the creation and responding to RFPs for vendor selection and client engagements; Advisory Services to assess customer’s security operations centers to include SOC - CMM assessments and helping them develop documentation, budget and technology strategies to improve their maturity.
  • Also support marketing events and conferences to drive awareness of the challenges organizations face with the increasingly hostile cyber threat landscape and support Confidential sales.
  • Have spoken at several conferences, Splunk Confidential SOC’s Dubai UAE, MWC Barcelona Spain and many others on Confidential SIEM capabilities and other Cyber Security related topics.

  • Worked with Product teams to develop the future vision, architecture and implementation for a new SIEM platform utilizing a custom Splunk Enterprise installation.
  • Also lead the charge on the creation of a new content methodology that would support CDM capabilities as well as and enhance the SOC’s ability to detect threats.
  • Was responsible for bringing stability to our Fed Managed Confidential service by instituting strict change management and leveraging strong relationships with vendor executives to improve the quality and response time of their support as well ensuring expedited patches were added to their code base.

Global Tier 3 Manager

  • Responsible for all Managed Security Services Tier 3 engineers globally.
  • The teams consisted of Sr Analysts, Sr Firewall/IPS Engineers and Sr DDOS Engineers.
  • Also Operations lead for the creation of a commercial cloud based Firewall/IPS/Email scanning service.
  • This included architectural design, documentation and testing for delivering the service to operations.
  • One team was responsible for the infrastructure and database systems within operations.
  • This includes routers, switches, bridges, SAN, cluster servers, and Oracle database.
  • The other team is responsible for maintaining customer deployed devices and all supporting backend systems for the Security Operations Center.
  • I have been responsible for improving our disaster recovery procedures as well as defining policy and procedures for both the teams.
  • In this role I successfully rebuilt our legacy and non-redundant SIEM platform for our MSS service.
  • Was responsible for re-architecting our ArcSight SIEM into Confidential data centers that resulted in a highly available hot/hot MSS SIEM platform that had zero SEV0 outages.
