CURRENT WORK:
Confidential, Seattle, WA
Senior Associate
Responsibilities:
- Using AIX/Kshell, I automated the Confidential UDB load process in order to reduce development time for team by creating parameter driven generic loader.
- This process eliminated the need to write custom load scripts for each table and reduced development time from 2 weeks to 2 hours.
- The parameters were derived from the table definition read from the database catalog that the data modelers entered.
- After switching to Teradata, I migrated the load scripts to Teradata BTEQ/PERL/PHP and stored the load parameters into an Oracle database.
- I maintained and updated this program until I was switched to Data Quality and ETL switched to Abinitio.
- During the 8 month migration from my load-scripts to Abinitio, I was the lead tester and data quality verifier that certified each conversion.
- After a department re-org I switched to ETL using Abinitio where I developed projects related to Federal Regulatory Reporting.
- While learning and developing in Abinitio, I continued as a Data Quality expert.
Data Quality Developer
Confidential
Responsibilities:
- I designed and maintained a Control database for building, monitoring and reporting on ETL progress, errors, and statistics.
- This is the same concept as the parameter driven load-script, but this time the Data Quality check became parameterized.
- The quality check parameters where standard checks such as file-name, file-date, number-of-records, load-time, error-threshold, and custom embedded SQL specified by the business partner or data steward.
- These Data Quality checks were embedded in the load process with UDB/Kshell, Terdata/Load-Scripts, and eventually Abinito/Data Quality PERL scripts.
- In order for easy reporting on these checks, I developed a Data Quality Portal: web page using ExtJS javascript framework to aid ETL support teams to resolve errors, monitor progress, and for business users to get email notifications for errors or progress.
- It used to take 1 week to prepare the Data Quality checks and another 3 days of testing, so I created a step-by-step Data Quality Setup web page for Data Quality Developers using ExtJS which reduced development time from 1 week to 1 hr. This method made Data Quality setup quick and easy to maintain in Agile development.
Data Quality Subject Matter Expert
Confidential
Responsibilities:
- As a designer for the Data Quality process, I helped with the Metadata Team to identify System-of-Record, Source-of-Truth for EDW documentation and for internal/external auditors during audits.
- During Data Quality development, I would meet with business partners or data stewards to formulate a data checking strategy where I would interpret their concerns into SQL checks and apply the checks into the Data Quality parameters.
- My largest interpretation was for a project that took the CFPB and FR-Y14 regulatory documents text and converted around 1300 of the FED requirements into SQL.
