PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Research Assistant, Data Scientist

Responsibilities:

  • Studied and identified the best haptic treatment for restoring attention in TBI (nudge effect), studied effects of VR therapy on TBI and determined to be on par with current clinical standards for attention through statistical analysis in R (lme4 library and ARTool) and Matlab using mixed-model ANOVA (GroupxTime Factor).
  • Developed a portable VR workstation for therapy and experiments conducted in clinic. Used Python for VR Programming (libraries scipy, numpy and math) and C++ for Robotics Programming.Developed target placement algorithm to assist in design of experiments using optimization methods. Resulted in better placement of targets where targets and distracting elements do not occlude each other, an improvement over the original experiment where targets were manually positioned.
  • Played a key role in designing a “looking glass” virtual reality workstation. Used Python for VR Programming
  • Identified stroke and healthy movement variations can be maneuvered and shaped through VR .
  • Developed and implemented a reinforcement-learning model that serves as a counterpoint to the prevailing theory of optimal control theory called safety-margin control: First generative model on movements that can encompass adaptation to novel environments with variability in movement: can predict how variability is shaped in novel tasks and environments, can serve as a robotic controller that adapts to noise in the system. Programming was done in Matlab
