Bureau Chief Education Data Warehouse

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the Education Data Warehouse (EDW). The EDW is a large database containing 20 years of education data collected from districts, colleges, universities and numerous other sources. The EDW provides longitudinal data for DOE staff and external researchers. Responsible for oversight of the Confidential Education and Training Placement Information Program. Provides follow up data on participants in education programs. Responsible for management of the agency’s enterprise SAS infrastructure platform. Coordinated work efforts and lead staff of 20+ in providing education data and business analytics to agency staff and stakeholders.
  • Implemented master data management for assigning unique student identifiers and matching student records to master data records. Legislatively mandated in 2014, this initiative increased student data privacy of over 5 million individuals by replacing Social Security numbers as the primary identifier in education data systems. Developed automated processes for over 100 local education agencies to submit individual records, retrieve matched records and resolve near match records.
  • Implemented external business intelligence portal using SAS Business Intelligence tools for users to research aggregated education data.
  • Managed major migration of Education Data Warehouse from Oracle on UNIX platform to SQL Server 2014/SAS Analytics on Windows platform.
