  • The cultural understandings of the implementation requirements were getting in the way of the team’s ability to move the project through the project tollgates. They failed the preliminary architecture review.
  • Reviewed the architecture from the Brazil team, which had failed the preliminary review tollgate. I worked with them and improved their documentation. Changing a review cycle from unapproved to a clean approval with all the components needed to address the architecture concerns. The project was federally mandated and required to be on time. The original architecture documents were good information but not the information that the client’s architecture leadership was interested in reviewing. At the time of the failure, the project was being considered a failure and the business was looking at an impending fine of 50 million, due to the setback in the schedule. I gathered the team and led them through the document adjustments to bring more information to the presentation and documentation. Some of the information they had to go and get other information was not presented properly. Within 2 weeks we went from a RED project to a Green approval that sent the team through the gate to the implementation cycles with all their approvals in place. The documentation was so well done that they sailed through the next design review and made up for lost time in the implementation phase because they had such clear directions in the documentation.
  • Directed the team through deviations procedures for both architecture and security policies that were roadblocks to their project moving forward. Provided the team with the leadership to find the right approvers for all of these delicate decisions and presented the business case to the (C-Level) principle decision makers directly.

  • This requirement was newly enforced and the client was now under a 4 month timeframe to deliver this .NET solution.
  • I was asked to lead the effort and design and create a solution for this need. Below are just a few of the highlighted unique solutions I needed to design, in 2003 before encryption was common place as it is today.
  • Due to the ITARegulations we needed to change not only the typical design for this solution but also the backup solution, and the support model.
  • A new Backup solution had to be designed to apply personnel restrictions that were necessary.
  • A design for secure communication had to be designed so that all transmissions were encrypted
  • A dedicated storage system had to be designed so that data at rest was secure.
  • A solution for system access/support personnel was compliant. HR was engaged to manage the legal separation of the employees into an ITAR compliant group

  • This solution required new infrastructure designs and new transportation designs to provide the connectivity to outside firms and clients.
  • Within the EDS offering for storage which was shared with all their clients, to accommodate the ITAR requirements I designed a Confidential dedicated storage metavolumes within a shared hardware solution that could be defended in a court of law for Confidential Legal.
  • As a result of this new solution. Confidential corporate developed plans to create a Confidential only Storage offering, using the principles I had implemented for Confidential Legal.
  • Due to the high volume of storage needed and the need for a data NAS, I created the first VERITAS Clustered Windows solution. This was the first clustered windows solution that could handle dynamic disk groups which was the limitation with window clustering.

  • Created a design for Global PC encryption with the Point Sec product with the multiple countries and compliance laws that were required.
