Lead WEB/FORMS/ETL/SSIS System and Software and Platform Architect and Senior Developer
Confidential, NYC, NY
Responsibilities:
- Contracted to document (about 4000 pages), re-architect and build proof of concept for a new version of the Account Meter Sync interface between the customer service center (CSS), intermediate systems and other data sources (such as LPDS) and the Itron meter management system (IEE).
- The IEE system provided a Web service interface to which an XML configuration file is passed. This configuration file provided the IEE with all meter additions, removals and changes to sync the IEE with the account and billing departments. All account additions and changes were made in systems hosted in DB2 databases. My system accessed the IEE SQL Server databases for adds and changes in IEE and compared this data against the account meter sync databases. Data was added and updated to the staging database against which new IEE configuration files were produced for IEE. The legacy system I documented and the new system I architected was SQL Server 2008 R2 based and I also supported, documented and reachitected the entire SQL Server system responsible for extracting CSS information, massaging it and ultimately extracting the XML configuration file to pass to the IEE.
- While working on the project I became very familiar with the IEE and Itron’s AMI and Itron’s meter management technology.
- The project was to build a new interface system to the current IEE and then to transition it to a system that would interface with AMI, and a universe of millions of meters. In order to document, design and rearchitect in this project I became familiar with all aspects of IEE, such as creating service points, meters and recorders and their types, channels, formulas, service point channels and so on.
- The account meter sync employed numerous Microsoft stack ETL/SSIS/RSS .NET (VB and C#)/ASP.NET systems that synchronized the customer service systems (customer accounts, customer premise, and service point data in DB2) with the Itron meter management systems.
- The ETL layer extracts data (utility usage data from millions of customer premise meters) from DB2, matches customer accounts (new accounts and meter additions and exchanges) with their meters and updates and inserts all data into a SQL Server repository for cleaning and massage. Data is then extracted to XML configuration files and uploaded into the Itron IEE systems.
- While on this project I was tasked with re-architecting the existing web services and ASP.NET/BizTalk tier and rearchitecting for ASP.NET, WCF and MVC (report access). All maintained code was VB.NET. I documented and updated/created views, stored procedures, triggers, functions in TSQL. I was also on call to resolved logic errors and bugs in the existing database, as well as updating tables and sprocs for both the OLTP systems as well as the data warehouse systems. The new account sync system I was tasked to architect was to be built in C#.
- Also supported the existing legacy systems so the FTE developer and administrator could take six months sick leave.
Lead System and Software and Platform Architect and Senior Developer

Responsibilities:
- Contracted to create several SSIS packages that moved data (invoices, orders, delivery items etc.) from a myriad of online stores, warehouses, brick and mortar stores, cloud based SQL Servers, warehouse systems (CICS, DB2 and AS400) and so on. Created C# based code in SSIS to reconcile (match) invoices with purchase orders.
- Code updated database systems to allow accounts payable to pick up validated invoices that were matched against POs and delivery confirmations so that suppliers could be paid. SSIS also moved matched invoices to the accounting systems for payment.
- I created a new database for this project (for staging and invoice/po matching) and created a large number of tables, views, functions, sprocs, triggers.
- I was also reposibles for linking the server to other database repositories in the organization and wrote a number of cross platform queries as part of the ETL process.
- Also created a ASP.NET-MVC4 Web application to let users see all SSIS job reports and to obtain reports showing which invoices were imported by the SSIS application and the results of the PO-Invoice matching systems (such as which invoices had correct number of books ordered, which invoices could be matched against a PO, invoices rejected and so on).
- The Web app also included functionality to allow for the manual management of invoices and POs.
- I was also responsible for the porting of DTS to SSIS, and the creation, packaging and installment, scheduling and maintaining of the SSIS functionality.
- The final stage of the project involved the creation of about 12 SSRS reports, charting, rolling up data, weekly and monthly reporting, drill down reports and so on.
