Confidential is using ERStudio to do the data modeling and uses Visual Basic to modify existing scripts that produce items for each of the database (MS SQL/DB2 and Teradata) and data storage areas (Dev/Test/QA/Staging/Production) that are used to produce the organizations reports and BI information. The former tool Power Designer was recently replaced with ERStudio so conversions of existing data models is ongoing.
- Confidential works with data modelers, DBAs, ETL Developers and enterprise architects to ensure mapping and needed information is brought into the new system. Confidential developed a series of scripts and an automated process to bring in the new data pieces as well producing mapping reports and spreadsheets to verify conformance with requirements. The ETL tools to migrate the data are BTEQs SSIS and Informatica.
- The databases Confidential worked with at Kieiwt include MS SQL and Teradata, as SAP fed the EDW system from the projects that they were involved in; which was used for extensive BI and reporting out of both sets of Databases. There was merging of the data from the SQL Ineight system into the EDW system as well as information from SAP into that system; which resided on Teradata.

We also attended an IBM Watson Analytics seminar put on in Omaha and they wanted to look into that as well.

We developed a lot of routines and scripts for working with Greenplum and the IBM tool suite Infosphere.
- Created new billing and reporting systems off of application logs versus the existing system that could only produce them off of server logs. This was to allow billing to Comcast as they did not use West servers; but only West applications. Reporting was geared to Microstrategy to show data visualization of all calls and IVR processes for the millions of calls and transactions West processed.
- Created an ODS layer where data from all applications was delivered to in order to consulate and clean it to ensure data quality was met. This area also served as the real time mechanism for reporting, as well as the staging area for all aggregations and detailed data before it was sent off to the data warehouse for historical reporting.
- Redesigned the underlying database and tables for the existing SMS system, which led to an average of 250K increase over existing SMS billing system for the client United Health Group alone, (they were the largest customer on that system).
- Led the establishment, creation and implementation of Data Governance at West. West had never had Data Governance before I arrived and it was one of the primary things we got built while I was there.
- Created various artifacts (data models, Visio architecture and data flow diagrams, DDL, stored procedures, ETL diagrams, ETL and database designs and data maps, etc.) to allow for migrating of all data items into production including business approved documentation.
- Worked with the production, development MIS, ETL, Reporting and database teams to coordinate testing and movement of items from development areas into production; conducted extensive data analysis and trouble shooting on all processes to determine if all needs were being addressed.
- West has a large amount of data and most of their data would be considered Big Data in nature. Developed the ground work and POC for building a Data lake for their data with a Hadoop database.
- Created process models and swim lanes using BPM for West IT areas.
- Created long and short term Data Architecture, and ETL Architecture vision, Strategic and Tactical roadmaps to achieve the Data Architecture Vision beginning from the current state and assisted in the overall technical roadmap. Data Architecture and ETL Architecture technical vision were geared towards the new technologies in the communications industry.
