The volume of these policies is far less compared to normal volume of policies processed by ADW, thus, they have been held in a local system till now. However, these are expected to grow gradually in future.
Currently in 30 states and its goal is to get into all states by end of 2014. So, in order to manage this data and gather reports efficiently, it was decided to move this information into ADW.

The ADW is an initiative to replicate the mainframe EDW ETL system with newer technology, which is more scalable, manageable and cost effective. The current mainframe process is broadly classified as legacy site (extract process running on nine CPUs) and central site (data from the legacy is transformed and loaded to EDW - DB2 database).
For the most part, the ADW systems will be replicating the mainframe central site process. This effort was a step towards retiring the DB2 Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in favor of the newly constructed Oracle based All Corporation Data Warehouse (ADW).

The compressed detail file (CDF) system rewrite is part of the strategy to retire the costly legacy systems and environments with more recent ETL technologies such as Ab Initio on standard and open systems like UNIX.
The CDF system is comparable to the existing mainframe application that takes monthly premium, claim and reserve files for both auto and property line of businesses and creates record code files (RCF) containing only the record code fields. To save disk space, the CDF system will also compress these files.
A User Interface Application will allow users to extract data from the compressed files with record code data for further analysis.
