Senior Storage AdministratorResponsibilities:
- Standardizing the entire enterprise by updating the DFSMS environment, remove the old EDS/HP ACS routines and unrolling a more robust SMS.
- Standardizing the DFHSM environment by converting the control datasets to Extended Address and sizing them to be 13GB per CDS. This effort was done to drastically reduce the amount of reorgs we were originally encountering.
- Standardizing the ICF catalogs by performing Mergecats using Tivoli Advanced Catalog Mgmt - same product as Catalog Recovery Plus (CR+) by Rocket Software and moving all aliases to supersized sized catalogs and removing the IMBED, REPLICATE parms.
- Worked with the TS7720 & TS7720T virtual tape library to increase redundancy between all of the sysplexes.
- Work extensively with CA-Vantage for all reporting of CA1 tapes, ICF Catalogs, SMS consolidation of storage class, mgmt. class, and storage group constructs.
- Worked extensively with the Confidential & CA exits (CBRUXENT & CBRUXEJC) for the virtual tape environments
- Extended all of the CA1 TMC databases by adding new ranges to copy from the old tape ranges into the new ranges.
- Checked and validated the CA1 parms to ensure the synchronization of CA1 and the VTS was taking place and no tapes are left in limbo.
- Cleaned up broken DFHSM records by performing AUDITS using Tivoli Advanced Audit for DFSMShsm - same product as Fast Audit by Rocket Software.
- Observed & Cleaned up tons of datasets that were causing thrashing in DFHSM using Tivoli Advanced Reporting & Management for DFSMShsm - same product as HSM Manager by Rocket Software.

Senior Storage Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Administer / manage approximately 900 TB of data in a parallel sysplex environment; primary disk environments are EMC VMAX 20K & 40K boxes.
- Provide support for disaster recovery exercises using EMC GDDR (Geographically Dispersed Disaster Restart) in a star configuration, and preparing the datacenter environments for a square (SQAR - four site) configuration. Monitor and control the execution of GDDR scripts during DR.
- Setup createpairs to define the SRDF/Synchronous replication of primary disk of local datacenters.
- Setup createpairs to define the SRDF/Asynchronous replication of primary disk over long distance/ extended datacenter(s).
- Analyze DFSMS storage groups space availability using CA-Vantage and SAS.
- Analyze DFSMS environments to make them z/OS v2.1 compliant.
- Analyze the DFSMS constructs primarily the mgmt class to determine proper data retention and to seek for inefficient use to data retention both on disk and tape using CA-Vantage and SAS.
- Enlarged the TMC (CA1) database to add multiple hundreds of thousands of tape ranges in preparation for tape replication ITDR.
- Provide DASD space capacity to pools that were nearing a high threshold.
- Extended the Oracle (StorageTek) HSC CDSes to keep up with the heavy demands of tape usage.
- Provide support with the STK Oracle VSM5 & VSM6 virtual tape environments. Also working with T10K tapes.
- Work with the DLM8100 virtual tape system in setting up the DFSMS environment in preparation to route data to it.
- Managing the DFHSM environment; cleaning up the CDSs, auditing the multiple components of DFHSM such as ML1 volumes, ML2 tapes, catalogs, backups, etc.

Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Assist the client in bringing back (in-sourcing) their mainframe IT infrastructure from EDS (Texas) to GM (Michigan).
- Assist the team with data replication via SRDF/A from Texas to Michigan with both disk (DMX3/VMAX) and virtual tape (DLM6000).
- Migrate from EMC devices DMX3/VMAX to Confidential DS8870 disk and DLM6000 virtual tape to Confidential TS7720 virtual tape.
- A total of 22 LPARS were replicated, several LPARS were configured into a parallel sysplex environment and others were standalone LPARS.
- Configured the new LPARS into the DFSMS base configuration to communicate with the new Confidential disk and tape devices.
- Configured the TS7720 to a 2-way and eventually a 3-way grid to allow for communication between Europe and the US.
- Altered the ACS routines to begin writing to the Confidential DS8870 and TS7720.
- Extended all of the CA1 TMC databases by adding new ranges to copy from the old tape ranges into the new ranges.
- Analyzed the ICF CATALOGS on all LPARS and performed a sync with CA1.
- Copied all tape data using Rocket Software Tape Copy (formerly OpenTech Systems) to copy from the DLM6000 to the TS7720 virtual tape library.
- Worked extensively with the Confidential & CA exits (CBRUXENT & CBRUXEJC) for the virtual tape environments
- Configured the DFHSM parm library to direct all writes to the TS7720.
- Working on merging two mono-plexes into two multiplex environments, defined the DFHSM JCL to merge the BCDS, MCDS, and OCDS, also merging the TMC (CA1) into each multiplex environment as well the VOLCATS and VGENERAL catalogs. Update all system parms and the TS7720 to phase out the old category codes from the collapsing systems.
- Designed and developed a process using DCOLLECT and SAS to assist in the dataset collection and analysis after a production client data cutover went into effect.
