Responsibilities:
- Lead investigator in user / network problems to include problems in Citrix, and coordinates testing of resolution when necessary to ensure problem is corrected.
- Leveraged VMWare and Nutanix/Acropolis Virtual platforms to support both shop-floor and administrative business systems.
- Currently responsible for network operations, both LAN and WAN, including remote access, Active Directory, and any vendor-related or business partner operations. Manage backups of critical business data as well as provide backup strategies for business continuity. Perform routine maintenance of servers and network equipment, both hardware and software.
- Install, configure and maintain physical and virtual servers, network devices and cabling, and other related equipment. Troubleshoot networks and end user systems to identify and correct problems and other operational abnormalities, and document all network / end user problems and resolution for future reference.
- Leveraged Linux servers to replace aging Windows servers for specific purposes, such as an email gateway server, server to receive customer feed mill orders via FTP, and to communicate securely between Case Farms and the State of North Carolina for employee payroll matters.
- Installed and configured a Cisco Router with GRE/IPSEC VPN to Verizon so Case Farms’ field technicians could update our Animal Management system in real-time, using hand-held scanners connected through Verizon’s cellular network tunneled into our corporate network.
- Monitor network using Netflow for overall network performance and identifying potential network bottlenecks, bandwidth hogs, and investigating intermittent issues.
- Recommend changes to improve business systems and network configurations, and determine requirements related to such changes.
- Integrated cloud services and hosted applications such as Citrix Sharefile, ForcePoint, and Kronos into business strategy and mentored colleagues in their use.
- Created WAN update strategy when changing WAN providers to incorporate some smaller locations into our MPLS WAN network. Currently implementing a migration off ATT MPLS to a simple layer-2 WAN network. New implementation will include an internet failover from our Troutman, NC location to our Canton, OH facility.
- Work with vendors to provision resources to support business objectives. This includes user accounts and VPN access when necessary, as well as VLAN management and route advertisement.
- Manage and control public DNS services for Case Farms through a DNS hosting provider. Control the creation, modification and deletion of all DNS records including MX, SRV, pointers, CNAME and spf1 txt records.
- Reacted and recovered from 2 ransomware incidents. Guided local department coworkers in containing the attack while mitigating its TEMPeffects. Followed up with end user awareness of potential threats, particularly in emails, showing what to look for and encouraging questions.
