PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Confidential - Fort Worth, TX
Network Administrator / Engineer
Responsibilities:
- One of five network administrators charged to work on servicing 60+ pharmacy chains and over 10000+ pharmacies. We specialized in direct internet connectivity, MPLS, and VPN technologies. Worked with customers to establish connectivity to our various products and services. This included night and weekend work during allotted maintenance windows.
- Experience with on-call support and after-hours maintenance. This not only included network changes but also physically maintaining the LAN. Cable management, documentation and physical moves of devices (racking and stacking).
- A large portion of my work involved firewall maintenance and new policy building. From Customer connectivity into our network and vice-versa. Worked with vendors and in-house support to set up, test, and maintain new customer connectivity. This work was completed with Cisco ASAs and Juniper SSG-500 enterprise firewalls.
- Maintained and supported end-user LAN connectivity. This included support from the user’s desk network port out to the internet. Also, oversaw maintaining user VPN connectivity.
- Hands on experience with Big IP F5 Local Traffic Management. We used these devices for traffic manipulation and load-balancing. These virtual servers are used for customer connectivity and for in-house QA and testing.
- Monitored dozens of network devices, and hundreds of QA, application, database, and testing servers with the use of Nagios monitoring software, Orion NPM, Orion NCM, and Juniper STRM traffic monitoring.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis was accomplished by using various tools such as TCP-Dump, Juniper Flow Filters, WireShark, and other traffic analysis tools.
