Member of a team responsible for: 1) Provisioning calling cards in the AT&T network and 2) Limiting
fraud and credit uncollectibles related to long distance service. This project saved millions of
dollars in uncollectibles for AT&T. Our team was awarded the CIO Circle Of Excellence and
Confidential Software Excellence awards and I received two promotions in the course of the project.

My last project at Confidential was the maintenance and improvement of the Fraud Daemon. This is a continuously running real-time process that is part of the critical path of our application. The purpose of this process is to continuously decode (binary to ASCII) messages, called fraud alerts, that come from the AT&T network, and to distribute this fraud data to several Oracle tables. These fraud alerts are then accessed through PowerBuilder screens by associates at various work centers throughout the country.

The Fraud Daemon process is composed of a C daemon (5,000 lines), a package of Oracle procedures and functions (3,000 lines), and a set of 5 Oracle table triggers (500 lines each). In addition, I created complex shell scripts as part of the unit and system testing of this process.

Member of The Chubb Institute’s Honors Program.

For my final project at Chubb I created a retail web site (an online bookstore) where customers could
view product and store information, create a shopping cart of products, place credit card orders,
check the status of their orders, and provide customer feedback. All customer transactions were
reflected in updates to an Oracle database.

Additional functionality included:

  • Detection of and accommodation for various types of customer browsers
  • Security measures in the form of transactional and daily purchase limits
  • Free promotional offers as needed.

I also created a VB6 component of the application to be used by warehouse personnel to fill and ship the customer orders.

Course work emphasized:

  • Analog and digital signal processing techniques.
  • Computer architecture.
