Oracle DBA

Responsibilities:

  • Currently an Oracle DBA Consultant working a Secura Insurance Company with the responsibility of migrating their Oracle 11.2.0.2 database to Oracle 12c RAC on a Linux platform. This is a three phase project with phase one and two to be completed by March 1 2016.
  • Member of a performance team that is evaluating a new Vendor product that is under consideration by Secura Insurance for the commercial line of business. This team is providing bench marks under different configuration of VM/OS/Database platforms in our performance environment.
  • Implemented their backup system using RMAN and Com-vault software.
  • Member of a project team to update their Predictive Modeling application to Oracle 12C database and version 12C of WebLogic. This project involves migrating the current client server app to a web based application running or Oracle 12C with the potential to implement RAC (Real Application Clustering) due to the number of users.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the IFS ERP system to one of Rockwell Automations major business systems. GMS also known as Global Manufacturing System with over 1200 active users. Candidate was a core member involved with the startup pilot system to the final implementation of the live system taking 18 months. Role in the early stages of this project was as Technical Resource Analyst using Oracle skills to install Oracle 8.x on a Windows 2000 environment which was configured to host the IFS ERP system. During later stages of project, wrote PL/SQL procedures to interface the IFS data with other external databases and applications. Once the pilot project was declared a success, candidate’s role then switched to working with the UNIX DBA to move the Oracle instances from Windows 2000 to UNIX/Sun environment. When the move was complete and the IFS environment became stable, candidate then became a member of Rockwell’s operation DBA support team.
  • Became a member of Rockwell’s Global Processing Transformation (GPT) team. As a member of this team our responsible was to identify the GAP between SAP and current Rockwell applications. Through this process an intensive research though customer interviews, application flow and system process identified the need of a middle tier to be known as SAP Natural Layer. This middle layer or tier architect will consist of hardware and process to move data between SAP and existing Rockwell key Applications.
  • Key technical resource in the creation of a middle tier data mart collecting data from SAP and other ERP systems like Factory Talk, Kronos, IFS and MSE. This middle tier become Rockwell’s primary messaging service between all major applications. This highly visible data mart is updated 24/7/365 with other 1500 Datapump jobs running per day.
  • Candidate is currently working with Confidential operations support team supporting a very large and complex environment with more than 250 Oracle databases on 40 Unix/Linux and Windows servers.
