GENERAL PROFILE:
- A Team Lead/Consultant/Sr. Progress DBA in the Database Administration Support Services division having an industry experience of 6 years has acquired expertise in Progress Database Administration (in QAD environment) and Shell Scripting also has good exposure in Database Upgrade and Database parameter tuning to seek best performance out of databases.
- Experience in installation/troubleshooting of various QAD products like QAD SE, QAD QXtend Inbound/Outbound, QAD EAM, QAD .NETUI, QAD MSW/PSW Workbenches, etc.
- 6 years of experience in Progress as Database Administrator. Worked as a senior team member/Project Lead in areas including Database Administrator and Database migration.
- Experience in installation and working on various Progress/OpenEdge versions (8.x 9.x, 10.x and 11.x till OE 11.6).
- Experience in Progress Upgrade and Patches Installation.
- Expertise in App Server/Web Speed broker configuration.
- Experience in Progress database parameter tuning to improve overall database performance.
- Experience in setting up new database environment.
- Basic 4GL knowledge to query data in Progress tables/VST’s.
- Expertise in setting up Open Edge Replication (Disaster Recovery Databases) between server and client environments.
- Experience in performing daily monitoring tasks, weekly maintenance tasks, monthly maintenance tasks and Quarterly DB health checkups.
- Expertise in shell scripting (AIX, Linux, HP - UNIX, Sun Solaris & Windows Batch scripts) and server activities related to Progress Database Administration.
- Experience on working with and managing 600+ GB of single database.
- Experience in setting up AI management for disaster recovery.
- Experience in Recovering Database after a Database Corruption/Crash.
- Experience in setting up Backup Strategy for Database (Full, Incremental, Multi-Volume)

- Experience in setting up and installing “Zabbix” Monitoring tool to monitor Openedge Databases and servers to monitor databases on the fly graphically for trend analysis and live data graphs and setup alerting.
- Expertise in identifying recurring problem, execute root cause analysis and resolve them.
- Exposure in working with global customer base and multi-national locations & ensuring 24/7 Team support with minimal or no PRODUCTION downtime.
- A team player with good written and verbal communication skills, willing to handle wide variety of tasks.
- Ability to learn and work on any other software business systems as required by project.
- Expertise in QAD application and database migrations from Sun/Oracle Solaris, AIX and Unix platforms to RHEL.

- Experience in Delete/Archive and Dump/Load of QXtend Outbound database to limit its growth.
