- Oracle database move from AIX to Linux (2015) - Designed and implemented GoldenGate and Data Guard replication solution to allow immediate switchover and switchback between Oracle 11gR2 on AIX and Linux.
- Data Split (2014) - Designed and partially implemented GoldenGate replication solution to split data from consolidated schema in three source databases on IBM/AIX into 6 schemas on 6 smaller databases on Linux. Included moving to new databases in a phased approach over several months. Design included full DR solution utilizing GoldenGate replication enabling the ability to convert from 3-way replication to 2-way replication. Also evaluated GoldenGate Conflict Detection Resolution (CDR) options and performance impacts.
- Application upgrade (2013) - Designed GoldenGate replication solution utilizing conversion database to replicate data from 2 down-level production source databases to single conversion database where GoldenGate transformation and SQLEXEC processes were utilized to convert data on-the-fly to new application version and then used cascading replication to populate 2 new up-level production databases.
- Oracle database move from HP to IBM (2012) - Utilized GoldenGate replication to move Oracle 10g database from HPUX to Oracle 11g database on IBM/AIX. Automated scripts to reverse replication as needed. Designed combined DR/Up-Level/Down-Level solution using a combination of GoldenGate and Data Guard replication. Challenge: due to hardware issues, replication was reversed many times before final move to AIX.
- Data Segmentation (2011) - Designed and implemented GoldenGate multi-way replication solution. Project started with converting DR database into active application database and implementing 2-way replication between the two data centers. Project also included upgrading production databases in both data centers to 11gR2 RAC and implementing a third data center. End environment was three 25TB databases doing 3-way replication and 1-way replication to reporting and other down-stream applications.
- Up-Level/Down-Level (2010) - Implemented multiple minimum-downtime solutions for new software releases. One project included switching between different databases each release and the other project included creation of up-level tables within the source production database.
- Designed and implemented all required GoldenGate changes for required transformation routines including use of SQLEXEC statements to invoke stored procedures. Release weekend tasks for switching databases included changing DNS and LDAP aliases and reversing GoldenGate replication. Release weekend tasks for up-level tables included renaming objects and repointing synonyms.
- Installed RAC10g on 2 node cluster for large production system and migrated the legacy system from Non-Rac environment to RAC11g cluster database and configured.
- Duties includedDatabase performance monitoring and tuning includes Instance tuning, Query (SQL) Tuning using Tkprof, AWR, ADDM, and ASH, general troubleshooting, script development, documentation and DBA training.
