The existing TXU database was used and was not designed to handle the new requirements of ERCOT. The results of intermediate calculations were not stored on the database, but were required by ERCOT. Through creative construction of the computer code the intermediate calculations were saved to a temporary file and retrieved for reporting to ERCOT.

Located date-fields and review the field for conversion code that may be affected by Year 2000 such as conversion from a mm/dd/yy to a yy/ddd, etc.
Updated programs to bring them into compliance and code, test and document the changes.
SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS:
Updated both CICS and batch programs for Year 2000. The source code was no longer available for many programs. The source code was restored by a third party vendor, but often the code did not compile. The scope of the contract widened with the necessity of regression testing of programs many of which did not have Year 2000 changes. The contracted was completed on time with a couple of weeks to execute in production while still in year 1999.
