Product Support Engineer, Ridley Park, PA

Responsibilities:

  • Material Review Board (MRB) certified for Electrical/Electronic Systems, and Equipment Crew Stations. Performed minor analysis and investigations on Hydraulic systems and Structure MRB nonconformance’s.
  • As central point of contact coordinated and implemented team plans of actions to resolve all outstanding Aircraft Status and Delivery Record (ASDR) issues preventing final product acceptance. Issues included faulty HF antenna installations, discrepant connectors, LRU failures, faulty fiber optic connections requiring engineering investigations and follow-up repair.
  • Coordinated and led a team of electricians, mechanics, and quality inspection personnel to perform extensive rework on the Power Distribution, Auxiliary Power Distribution Panels and Overhead Consoles. This interaction included conducting, coordinating, and documenting meetings with the Equipment Installation IPT, Wiring Installation IPT, Wiring Design IPT, Supplier Management, and the Supplier. Documented meeting minutes and tracked/resolved action items leading to a proper build package by the new supplier. Isolated and resolved discrepant conditions on the shop floor.
  • Led and coordinated testing of the IR Formation Lights. Documented meeting minutes and tracked/resolved action items with the Wiring Design IPT, Supplier Management, and the Supplier. These interactions led to a revised Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) and discovery of discrepant components within the light assembly fixture. Isolated and resolved discrepant conditions on the shop floor and at the supplier’s location. RCCA tools used include 5-WHY and Fishbone/Ishikawa.
  • Implemented a lean manufacturing process improvement that moved a dozen safety wire installations from a pre-DITMCO position to a post DITMCO position. This improvement eliminated a duplication of work in the build process and allows for a fluid flow of jobs in their proper sequence.
  • Performed system wide investigations into faulty system performance. Discoveries include recessed contacts, unfastened grounds, faulty coax wires, and LRU failures.
  • Redesigned cabling routing and terminations for DC grounding discrepancy resulted in engineering changes for ground location, cable routing, and wire terminations.
  • Co-led the investigation into a safety incident on the shop floor. This lead to the implementation and creation of additional safety requirements for the impacted shop jobs. This interaction included meetings with the Wiring Design IPT, Hydraulics IPT, Manufacturing engineers, floor planners, shop management, and shop floor personnel. Wrote additional job requirements and created power point slides to insert into the job to assist shop personnel to safely perform assigned tasks. Isolated and corrected safety related condition on the shop floor.
  • Co-led team that led to alternate cabling for the radar altimeter installation which included the measuring of the maximum attenuation for cabling and the system in question. Allowed site to continue with A/C build requirements.
  • Provide training, guidance, mentoring, and leadership to team members.

Maintenance Program Engineer, Seattle, WA

Responsibilities:

  • Was Lightning/High Intensity Radiated Fields (L/HIRF) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for 737NG, 757-300, 767-400, and 777; and was back-up SME for the 747-400 LCF, 747-8, and 787.
  • As SME I developed project initiation form, timeline, work drivers, estimated labor hours, and estimated completion dates for multiple L/HIRF projects in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 timeframes.
  • Develop processes and procedures for all functions performed within the L/HIRF work groups working closely with L/HIRF Associate Technical Fellow.
  • Analyzed product designs and concepts for maintenance programs. L/HIRF analysis included properties of wire types, connectors and material bonding methods. Analyzed/reported the failure causes due to galvanic corrosion, material contamination, poor receptacle to bracket to structure bonds, loose backshells, broken shields, loose plugs, poor ferrite suppressors (AR INC 629 system buses), poor coupler panel to structure ground straps, poor bonding jumpers, poor foil/mesh (composite surfaces), and insufficient transorbs.
  • Researched all customer service requests for airplanes 707, 727, 737-1/2, 737-3/4/5, 737-NG, 747-Cl, 747-400, and 777 for ATA’s 21 (Air Conditioning), 23 (Communications), and 36 (Pneumatic), 44 (Cabin Systems), and 20 (L/HIRF). For each request, I analyzed the system design, functionality, and maintenance tasks as they relate to each customer’s specific configuration and maintenance requirement.
  • Performed Maintenance Steering Group Analysis (MSG-3) on ATA’s 21 (Air Conditioning), 23 (Communications), and 36 (Pneumatic), 44 (Cabin Systems), and 20 (L/HIRF) through the use of logic flow paths, research and analysis of components and systems, and engineering judgment.
