Recruited to work in a development group on machine translation (linguistic-rule-based, pure statistical, and hybrid algorithms). Responsible for developing and testing software.

  • Im proved the Arabic-English transfer system (BLEU score +4 units; linguistic rules, inflection, lookup rules, user dictionary system, word choice rules, and dictionary compilation).
  • Developed an algorithm for data mining noun and adverbial phrases.
  • Developed the Named Entities Database Administration Library (the library itself, the command line interface and the soap server). Tested and delivered to the government (CIA).
  • Developed the Global Dictionary project (dictionary import, conflict resolution, and translation lookup).

Image Computational Engineer - Confidential, 1/2008–7/2010

Recruited to work in an R&D group of a start-up company that specializes in video search/video monetization. Accountable for developing and testing algorithms to extract metadata from image sequences.

  • Devised a multi-core algorithm to detect TV show scene locations. Testing: 100% precision/50% recall.
  • Developed a new real-time car detection algorithm that is 500% faster than the previous algorithm.

  • Applied generative approach to model video and verified model's suitability for stabilization, layering, and clustering of video.
  • Led the evaluation of face detection/tracking algorithms for a government agency, which came second to a specialized company, a success that was a key factor in the award of a $900K grant.
