2004 - Present Confidential Baton Rouge, Louisiana Vice President of Risk Management and Leasing

Recruited as Risk Manager and answerable to the VP of Human Resources. I made an immediate impact to earnings by saving $125,000 with the implementation of a Claims Management Database system I invented while with McBR. As the head of the companies' crisis management team, I took the lead in the company's recovery from hurricanes Katrina, Wilma and Rita. By securing advanced payments of $4.8 million, 51 restaurants were able to be rebuilt and reopened. All storms were eventually settled for 92% of the submitted claim. I was reassigned to report directly to the CFO and moved to self-administering General Liability claims. $180,000 a year is saved in claims handling fees with an estimated $2 million saved in losses. Casualty premiums have declined annually for a total impact of $1.6 million. In 2006, I was promoted to Director of Risk Management with responsibility for the leasing department. I analyzed a 123 property portfolio and then began an aggressive lease renegotiation program that has resulted in $4 million in value to the company and added 183 years of combined term. I redesigned the accounting systems for the portfolio that returned an estimated $500,000 to company.

Vice President of Risk Management and Leasing came in 2009 with additional responsibilities for utilities.

Risk Manager

Hired as the Training Coordinator, I was promoted to Risk Manager and assumed the loss control department for one of the largest McDonald's franchises in the gulf south. The company self-insured and self-administered for both Workers' Compensation and General Liability and I adjusted and directed the claims handling. As the company's size more than doubled, the total cost of risk declined annually and saved over $800,000 per year. Loss control strategies reduced incidents by 40% even as annual payroll increased and turnover remained high. In the claims control areas, I had a 100% litigation success rate as both defendant and plaintiff. An aggressive return to work program ensured no employee was ever placed on permanent disability. In thirteen years and several hundred claims, only one failed to close in less than two years. Because of my work with databases and programming, the IT department reported to me. I created several unique programs to capture and report data to improve operational efficiency as well as loss control. A 'theft tracker' system was able to take the restaurant statistical information and find those anomalies that indicated shrinkage. A deposit verification program took bank downloads and matched them with expected restaurant drops to find security holes and theft. Dozens of tasks that consumed thousands of man hours per week were able to be automated.
