EMPLOYMENT:

Various Long/Short Term Consulting

Confidential

  • I have worked on many Projects with some of the latest Networking and Data Center Technologies I, E., Virtualization, WLAN, Security and SSL/IPsec VPNs . I have been responsible for various levels of Projects/Contracts responsibilities from SR Engineer to Project Manager as well as all phases of Design, Pre-Testing For QOS and the practice for and the actual GO-LIVE Execution and Completion. So I normally would take personal care and in creating various necessary SOP's . From the projects' start, I would keep a journal of important goals, detail critical areas such as Visio Network Diagrams, IP-Addressing Info Reports from an IPAM and the Critical Area of NOC/Data Center Standard Operating Procedures SOPS's . In this crucial area, I would also take the initiative to talk to other team members about their daily assignments and work activities in order to produce more thoroughly detailed SOPS's Mainly for NOC's covering all areas using primarily the utilizing of the Company's Pre/During/Post Reporting tools and currently used SNMP tools and their new interaction. I would also help train corporate staff from various levels, Tier 1 thru Tier4/5, on the detailed SOPS's with particular importance given to the PROPER handling of NOC/IT Department Issues by populating the Remedy or Other Application Ticket System with as much information as possible for both Root Cause Analysis and for future reference in order to asses problems that have similar characteristics, and hence, quicker resolutions.
  • In between the long term projects, I would often take short term contracts. The dates coincide with both the larger and the smaller Projects and to be chronologically correct so they would be succinct. Most of these projects consisted of the always important, Day-to-Day IT Departmental support thru staff augmentation of all areas of Network Operations, assisting in NOC Operations daily support as well as primary customer or corporate support via the IT Department which would include the adherence to their Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Consistently commended for meeting project deadlines, good communication skills and very good customer service within the various
  • Diverse Companies, for both the IT Department's primary customers Corp-Users as well as the Company's Outside Primary Customers.

  • My Most recent project was a broad based one because the requirement was to replicate 2 two Data Centers for 2 two Companies that
  • had recently, and unexpectedly, merged. This obvious presented technological issues right away with the most important of which, to
  • establish basic, dependable and secure communications with each other and for the East coast, that meant using the equipment on hand.
  • So, the Primary Project required building an equally configured, Cisco Nexus Physical and Virtual Network with a 4 Tiered Data Center
  • like the one on the West Coast as well as secondary projects, which the timing was a good choice of course, though more argues. However,
  • the East Coast's Company's Network and Data Center was using older more band aids Cisco/Juniper based technology built with a
  • CAT/IOS 3 Tiered Environment. All areas needed to be addressed from Layer 1 to Layer 7 to be integrated into the Four Tiered Cisco
  • Nexus Based Network and Data Center with Redundancy and Load balancing AND always aware of SECURITY. Along with the primary
  • project objective, this extensive project had make absolutely sure that none of the projects Phases or Sub-Phases interfere with another or
  • more importantly, the company's primary business every day, was most important. So, to summarize, the client wanted to use this necessity
  • to take the opportunity to not only construct a Fully Virtualized Nexus Network and Data Center for current future endeavors, but just
  • as imperative, was the need to implement the necessary, and up to date, secondary sub-projects.
  • They also wanted to take the opportunity to enhance many other areas of the network as described below:
  • The 1st and foremost requirement was to establish the RELIABLE and DEPENDABLE communications between each site and then be
  • able to communicate with their Satellite Offices from each of the Home Corporate Offices all the way thru to each side.
  • Another Secondary Project request was to take the opportunity to do a proper conversion from IPv4 to IPv6 using the new IPAM
  • Technology, specifically from Solar-Winds General Suggestion from Design Team , which I have had personal experience with using
  • Duel-Stack method.
  • Another Secondary Project request was placed on a complete SECURITY review. The 2 new ASA 5545-X's A complete review all
  • Security Procedures for Remote Access as well as Inter-Corporate Security Conditions. This review, using the framework of
  • S-P-O-C-P-I parameters would be from the ISP-DeMarc thru ALL - OSI Layers 7 thru 1 and then back up from Layer 1 thru 7.
  • Review of MS-AD server's permissions as well as additional penetration testing including both the outside, as well as the inside and any
  • other areas would be reviewed, Like Physical Security Access, for any insufficient Security precautions and all other areas as necessary.
  • The SECURITY review was complicated by the lack of structured VPN procedures for Site-to-Site IPsec/VPNs and any Clientless
  • SSL/VPNs that were never addressed for a singular overall solution. All Users, Remote/Mobile access and LAN/WLAN/WAN as well as
  • IPsec/SSL VPNs offloading for both Client and Clientless, would all be addressed for a Single Procedure and Easy Management while
  • keeping in mind Standard High Risk Users. All would be addressed for both Duel / Multi Factor Authentication/Authorization.
  • Another Secondary Project request would be to incorporate as much REDUNDANCY wherever/whenever possible. This meant in
  • Particular for Load Balancing, any and all applicable devices that present a clear situation for Load Balancing from Main Traffic, ADC's
  • and Customer DB-INFO on Multiple UCS Servers should be Load Balanced for Optimal Performance based on Utilization .
  • Also, like my own motto - always be prepared for anything any device capable of HSRP Configuration, in A/A or A/S Mode, would
  • be done so on any and all applicable or achievable devices.
  • In view of the above requests, importance was placed on implementing more of the F5 BIG-IP SYSTEMS Vendors' Modules or
  • Devices where possible in order to leverage the in house knowledge of F-5.

We'd love your feedback!
