  • I worked as the Sr. SAN Solutions Architect for the diversified automotive company, JM Family. In light of the ongoing recession and the pressing need for JM to move their storage design to a high-end storage architecture, the management of JM, needed a storage expert that could re-architect what they currently had to provide and meet their pressing performance needs and lead the SAN team to a High- end storage system. My job duties included some of below outlined.
  • Managing large technical projects, including upgrades, consolidations, migrations etc.
  • Building new Windows and ESX servers and adding them to the SAN. Configuring VERITAS Volume Manager and DMP etc.

  • In 2003 congress approved a plan for the NFC to migrate risk associated with Disaster Recovery and appropriated funds to implement this plan. In response to this congressional move, the NFC developed the dual data center project. As part of EMC Professional Services I was assigned to work in conjunction with the NFC personnel to assist in the design and implementation of a primary and backup computer facility. This was a purely contract position.
  • The bulk of my job here was to assist in designing a better solution for their data center. And also knowledge-transfer. I taught the NFC SAN personnel the use and functionality of EMC Control Center, Performance Manager and Storage Scope.
  • I implemented the installation of Control Center to centralize management of their SAN. The NFC SAN, implements the SAN virtualization technology. They have IBM SAN Virtualization Controller, behind which is an EMC storage array: Symmetrix-DMX3, DMX4, and DMX 3000. The meta-devices on the DMX are virtualized into MDISKs and eventually presented to servers in the form of VDISKs. I assisted in the design architecture and operational administration of SVC.
  • This environment had only Cisco switches: two MDS 9513 and several Cisco New Edge Blade servers. Embedded in these 9513's were Generation 1 SSM cards, which we used for Recovery Point data protection. As a certified SAN specialist, I assisted in maintaining their SAN effectively.
  • I did lots of performance analysis on their environments to ensure efficiency.
  • I designed and set up alert notifications within ECC to aware the NFC personnel when vital incidents happen to their SAN like disk failures, FA failures etc.
  • This was a Team project. And I worked closely with my team to accomplish all assigned goals.
  • Designed the redirection of VMware ESX Servers access to storage via SVC instead of from the Symmetrix directly.
  • Provisioning storage from EMC Clariions, IBM DS4500, IBM DS6800, FastT series and EMC Symmetrix.
