| Engaged as a consultant for many organizations in central Ohio providing business solutions on the IBM AS/400 and Windows platforms in retail and manufacturing segments. The familiar clients included: The Limited, GAP, Value City Furniture, KTH Supplier for Honda of America , Cardinal Health, Ashland Chemical, and the State of Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services . Responsibilities
Advanced Drainage Systems ADS required a secure interactive website where customers and vendors could place orders, track and manage inventory and coordinate logistics and work orders. The solution incorporated SQL Server and DB2/400 for data storage. The solution was unique in the primary data source was a DB2 database on the AS/400 which contains their application for Orders, Invoicing, Vendor management etc. The goal for this application was to provide a public facing website which allowed access to order information for customers and vendors. In designing a solution, data had to be identified to replicate to a SQL Server database to provide optimum performance. The solution made use of ASP pages with a lot of dynamic JavaScript in order to render menus and expose only the functionality allowed based on the users permissions. Responsibilities

Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services ODJFS required a solution of two applications. One application was a windows client application to automate the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program sponsored by the IRS. This application was a tool which acted as a mash up which displayed data from disparate data stores/systems and provided access via a single interface. Moreover, it provided a utility to import data into the DB2 data warehouse on a S390 mainframe. The second application was a public facing web site which allowed employers to securely log in and apply for tax credit thru the WOTC program and check on the status of their applications for tax credit. Franklin County Children Services FCCS required a Windows Client solution which stored case history, court dates, judgments, etc for abuse and neglect cases in Franklin County Ohio until the child's 18th birthday. This was a custom system which was been converted from the AS/400 to a Windows Client solution. The primary data store was still to be the IBM AS/400. Borland Delphi was used to create the user interface and business objects. RPG ILE on the AS/400 was used to act as a proxy for calling DB2 stored procedures. Paradox was used as a disconnected cache and MS Access was used as a reporting data store. This project was a great opportunity because I was able to work with a team that used N-Tier development and pure object oriented methodologies before it was popular to do so. At that time Microsoft and Borland were still marketing RAD development. Responsibilities

National Century Financial Enterprises Developed a custom query and reporting tool which combined financial data in a primitive data warehouse/matrix to perform financial analysis and reporting. I worked with a team of developers to create a robust and dynamic application to capture, analyze and render analytical data with graphs and reports to a Windows Client interface using Borland Delphi. Responsibilities
Value City Furniture Worked with the I.T. Department and another consulting company to design, develop and implement a custom ERP and JIT inventory system on an IBM AS/400 platform. The solution designed allowed the entry of an order from any location checked the inventory, created a requisition from any 3rd party vendors or suppliers and provided an estimated delivery time. The application had the ability to combine orders, hold shipment of items based on configurable parameters. Implemented a configurable inventory replenishment module. Responsibilities

KTH KTH is a parts supplier for Honda of America. KTH required two things. First, Y2K compliance evaluation, coding and testing. Secondly, development of a custom application which integrated into JBA ERP application on the AS/400. The Y2K compliance project began with the task of identifying database object and application code which was not Y2K compliant. The JBA packaged application contained code numbering in one-hundred thousands of lines. There was also a substantial amount of undocumented integration and custom code which needed to be analyzed. I developed tools using AS/400 CL programming to read every database definition and every line of code based on rules varying from variable names, data lengths, etc. This tool produced a nicely formatted report of all system objects, their type, location, size, line number, etc. From the report, myself and KTH team members were able to accurately identify and make the necessary database and code changes in a short time span. | Worked as a consultant for World Book Consulting Group on the IBM AS/400 platform. While employed with this company I felt for the first time there was nothing that I couldn't accomplish with code. ARMCO Steel Received designs from the project lead and implemented user interface and reporting changes based on those designs. Maintenance of legacy IBM System 38 and System 36 code. Most development was automated batch processes which controlled recipes for steel. Sounds simple enough, on the surface but in reality, the application had to interrogate orders, estimated and required shipment dates in order to determine the most efficient order for the steel production. For example, when most people think about steel manufacturing, they have a visual image in their minds of men in dirty cloths, dark warehouse with molten steel being poured from a large bucket into molds. When in actuality, there are different types of steel which all require different metal additives, percentages, tempering processes, cooling, processing, etc. Responsibilities

Columbia Gas Designed and developed an interactive application which loads data via SNA communications or reel tape, creates batches, allows the user to process the batches created and updates the database with payment information or send bills to collections. Responsibilities
