Supported the U.S. Department of Transportation in operations and policy research. Projects included:
- Developed a database and a reporting process for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Ambient Protocol task, as part of its collaborative Air Tour Management Plan (ATMP) effort with the National Park Service. Developed and populated tables, developed queries and procedures to enable remote access, and documented process.
- Analyzed a highway congestion pricing model as part of an economic team's review for the Federal Highway Administration. Flowcharted the model at a high level and at a detailed, step-by-step level after documenting the algorithm used. Identified assumptions, inputs, and dependencies between calculations for three different scenarios.
- Responded to data quality requests via the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s DART system, a web-based data request tracking system. Responding to DART requests consisted of clarifying business rules, querying data from multiple database sources, analyzing and charting data, developing reports, and validating data using a variety of software. Responding to DART requests also required assisting junior analysts as needed.
- Coordinated and managed the production cycle for quarterly online reporting of the NAFTA module, part of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Analysis and Information (A&I) website. Designed and developed reports, defined business requirements, and delegated tasks to team of SQL/PLSQL programmers and web developers. Facilitated testing to production of module.
- Analyzed annual strategic performance measure data, wrote report, and delivered the report to the Federal Motor Carrier and Safety Administration (FMCSA). Project execution required learning PLSQL, testing, and implementing PLSQL programming and automation of the processes necessary for data analysis and reporting of the results. This was the first project in this work group to use PLSQL and an automation process for data analysis and reporting.
- Designed and facilitated focus group sessions for research on stakeholder needs regarding the use of an Internet-based tool to promote the adoption of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) standards for the Federal Highway Administration Joint Program Office.
- Conducted secondary and primary research and report writing for an organizational re-design of a CIO division within a public agency. Interviewed stakeholders and interviewed representatives of other agencies as part of best practices research.
