This project involved conversion of the PMS application, GE's leasing application for tracking asset lifecycle, from COBOL to PL/SQL.
Primary tasks tasks involved:
Analyze the COBOL programs and identify logic of the program.
Analyze JCL script which handled run sequence of COBOL programs and other functions like file movement/transmissions FTP/SFTP , etc.
Convert COBOL programs to PL/SQL stored procedures/packages. This also involved changing the cursor based COBOL approach to a set based PL/SQL approach.
Optimize and improve performance of PL/SQL code to conform to business timelines.
Convert JCL script to UNIX shell script to handle file movement, transmissions, etc.
