  • Work with the OS infrastructure teams to ensure that the basic performance capacity agent Net-SNMP and various Hardware monitoring agents HP Systems Management, Dell OpenManage, IBM Director functions on over 20 variations of Unix and Windows OS's. Unix Systems Administrator

  • Worked with Info Security to run ISS / NMAP scans on our Internet facing servers. Ensured file integrity using tripwire and checking for file discrepancies within it's encrypted database. Enabled IP black holes using portsentry on many machines.
  • Administered the DNS architecture. Global Crossing hosted 17,250 zones for customers on 20 different DNS servers throughout the world. All of the DNS servers were IBM B50's, H70's running AIX 4.3
  • Created and implemented programs for production systems. Programs were primarily written in Perl and included many web-based cgi's as well as several automation programs that we used on many different machines and on multiple platforms. Programs included process monitoring, ADSM tape cataloging, CGI Back end processing .
  • Managed 80 Solaris servers to ensure that the LDAP database and NNTP Usenet platform were operational. All of the Solaris boxes were running Sun OS 5.8.
  • Maintained 120 AIX production systems. AIX machines included many pSeries standalone boxes and a 3 frame SP cluster. These servers were running AIX 4.3.3.0. Ensured services such as IRC, FTP, POP, NAMED Bind 8, 9 , SMTP Sendmail , NTP, HTTP Apache , IMAP, etc. were running and accessible. Confirmed hardware functionality and replaced if necessary.
