  • I have a strong background in to creating, maintaining and/or enhancing MS Access business applications. This includes a thorough understanding table, query select, append, update, parameter, pass through , form and report design. I am flexible in the use of VBA to write custom procedures and functions as well as modifying forms and reports using VBA code. I use DAO for data manipulation. This allows me to customize your programs to meet your specifications.
  • I have a strong background in relational database design. Normalized, well indexed tables and reference tables that use standard naming conventions are key to applications that stand up over time. I also take precautions to write Access databases that meet standards that allow them to be easily migrated into MS SQL Server without modification.
  • I consider my communication skills strong. I am comfortable working with management, clients, or in a team environment. Building a rapport is the best way to resolve issues, whether internal and external, or to get customer feedback for modification and enhancements of the product.   • I successfully migrated Manpower Studies systems from spreadsheets to a database environment.
  • As lead programmer for Manpower Study Contract I Created a matrix of MS Access database tools. They centered on a master database that spawned databases for distribution to Analysts who collected data in the field. Upon return, the data from the spawned databases were automatically merged back into the master. Each database contained complex bound and unbound forms. Business logic was implemented using custom procedures and functions using VBA code. Management was kept informed with daily progress reports. Final deliverables were created from the Master database at the end of the study.

  • For the first 3 years, I worked as team member in the group of ARM Army Manpower Division programmers who developed a web based Manpower voucher using VB with ASP web pages. MS SQL Server data was fed to web pages using Stored Procedures. Also, I was primary programmer in development of secondary systems such as Medical Travel System and Personnel System.
  • Worked for a 1 years in ARP Army Personnel Division as sole developer of the program used to manage ESGR Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve records. This program imported file from ESGR and filtered out records where Army National Guard Soldiers have not yet filled out there employer information and automatically send representatives of their state a detailed list of this group of soldiers on a monthly basis. A summary report of the States progress was provided to management. Other duties included ad hoc queries of TAPDB Total Army Personnel Database information. This is a mainframe database. I simplified access to this information with a monthly download into access, then run ad hoc queries from Access.
  • I spent the final 1 years in support of ARF Army Force Structure . I developed an MS Access program to track Army National Guard units throughout the ARFORGEN cycle. This included downloading and syncing of data from The TAADS-R Army Authorization Document System Redesign database with RCAS Reserve Component Automation System database. Secondary work included development of a system that provided management scenarios of redistribution of all surplus equipment in the country.
