I have been serving as ad/hoc replacement for mainframe DBA personnel on CSC client managed projects when they are unavailable due to vacations, jury duty or other excused absences This covers the complete set of application or systems duties. Hours per week have varied based on CSC requirements.

My latest longer term project was not the short term type that I have done in the past 8 years although it started out as a 6 week project and lasted for well over a year. I was the DB2 Z/OS second level support technical resource for a Pennsylvania state agency with responsibility for handling all of the problems that cannot be technically addressed by the DBA or Data Administration staffs. These tasks include performance tuning on a mainframe DB2 version 9 and ODBC/JDBC driver client server system using IBM performance tuning tools including CQM and OPTIM as well as providing INFORMATICA data warehouse support and problem resolution of complex problems. In addition I handled the preparation for the Version 9 to Version 10 upgrade on the mainframe. I have implemented functionality such as clone tables and large objects. I also ensured that the state agency did not need to spend 3 million for an additional 100 MIPS by doing the same workload in a more efficient manner.

• The last 8 years have been spent doing short projects which has enabled me to make significant impact on an information technology department in a short period of time. Clients are numerous and include County of Confidential, SCE and 4 different Confidential among other clients. My specialties include DB2 performance tuning and conversions to DB2 Version 8 and Version 9 and 10 along with implementing the new functionality inherent in the new releases. Most of this has been ZOS based but has included ISERIES, ORACLE, SQL server and UNIX. Served as the DBA and system architect on a multiple platform UNIX, ZOS and SQL Server billing and accounting application in order to redesign and performance tune the application to handle four times the volume without upgrading either hardware or system software given corporate fiscal constraints.. This used a variety of performance tuning tools including various CA-UNICENTER and BMC tools and applications design changes which are too numerous to include in this document.

I served as the only DB2 DBA for a county government whose MIS organization was being taken over by CSC. My role covered all OS/390 DB2 DBA duties plus serving as applications project lead on the main application that was based on DB2. I did performance tuning which reduce the total weekly batch times from 57 to 21 hours. I also did the systems DBA work to convert from Version 5.1 to Version 6.1.
