Gis Professional Specialist Resume Profile
GIS Professional Specialist
Summarized Experience |
- Most recent experience as a GIS specialist for a water-resources civil engineering firm in Knoxville working with several projects including creating a multi-layer sewer line and water control asset management system as Oak Ridge's baseline GIS program. The GIS utilizes layers such as as built record parcel drawings, property information, aerial photography, smoke test data, manhole inspection data and closed circuit television information of the sanitary sewer system. This GIS is also being used by the city Oak Ridge's Public Works Department asset information management system to track and inventory field assets and manage maintenance of field crew work. This program was constructed in response to an EPA mandated SSES Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey under a MOM Module-Order Model storm water objective due by 2015 and is currently being used for consultation models, bidding rehabilitation contracts, field asset dissemination, equipment purchasing, integration with INFOR asset management software and the Oak Ridge IMS information management system . An experienced map maker producing industry standard professional grade digital and paper cartographic maps used by the likes of planning committees, engineers and executive administrators as well as simple maps used by the general public. Utilizing applications such as Bentley Microstations to generate water/sewer components and custom polygon metrics to populate Granite XP sewer management and scoring modules integrated with ESRI ArcMap to meet EPA requirements. As the sole GIS specialist I was tasked with project management of GIS related objectives using several tools integral to the project's success. I initialized a pilot program to create a custom desktop application in C .NET using ArcObjects as a front-end client-side interface and SQL Server as a middle-tier RMDB to serve the consumed data. Additional applications used were AutoCAD, Sewer GEMS, and ArcHydro. I have demonstrated the ability to professionally interact with city officials by listening to their requirements and using the latest technology and provide technical documentation along with trusted techniques to resolve their business challenges.
- As a GIS programmer for a Fortune 500 multiple listings software firm CoreLogic my duties included web application design, code-implementation, product documentation, and maintenance of highly-sensitive geographic information systems that was used on a production site which supported over 330K members. I maintained map services for driving directions, geocoding, map upgrades, feature classes, and wrote customized code for client web application modules using ASP, JavaScript's, and some C .NET which was eventually implemented to manage a conversion from ESRI software licensing to Bing Maps . Utilizing Microsoft .NET as the front-end interface to leverage the functionality features of SQL Server as the back-end RMDBS. My involvement in transitioning this change was to ensure a full understanding of all the legacy components and necessary steps my development team would take complete the conversion task within the prescribed timeframe and scope of the project. I was also the project planner for all GIS components using MS Office Project Manager and SharePoint to schedule meetings, review task, time and budget constraints as well as managing additional resources including networking and database security coordination. That employer invested in ESRI training and certification to allow me the ability to compete with other GIS professionals in similar markets.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

Currently unemployed
After being laid off from last employer due to lack of work in 2012, I have been doing some temporary freelance work for small projects in the Knoxville area that involved developing data first MVC web applications, WPF middle-tier, and mobile applications for various web sites. I have been maintaining my GIS skills with the ESRI suite of programs by attending workshops at the University of Tennessee and utilizing ArcGIS free trials. In addition, I have completed several training courses with Telerik UI and Angular JS. On a more personal note my father was ill and passed away in 2013 and left me two real estate properties, which I have since restored and rented out for personal income to the present 2014.
