Research Experience
Embedded System Design: 2009-2010
Studied in lab for 6 months, individual work
- Studied frame structure of microprocessor chip and its corresponding peripherals such as A/D converter, Cascade/Parallel Converter and display equipment.
- Programming on microprocessor units such as Intel 80C51 and several peripherals to fulfill functions such as extracting room temperature, user interface, and so on.
- Participated in Electrical Design Competition (NUEDC). We designed a system functioned as a stereo amplifier. Apply TI S5500(a kind of DSP, more emphasized function on signal processing than MCU) programming.
Senior Project 2010
TCP/IP Efficiency on Satellite Communications (GEO), about 3 months, individual work
- Studied NS2 (an open source networking simulation software) and TCP/IP protocol.
- Built a topology of GEO and ground station to simulate performance of various TCP/IP editions on GEO satellite communications.
Mathematical Modeling Experience 2007-2009
Each model was built within 4 days with 16 hours sleep, about 3 months together, team leader of 3
- Studied various mathematical models
- Built models for Pricing strategy for a skiing company
- Water quality evaluation along Changjiang River
- University/College tuition and product
- Eye clinic bed allocation strategy (Used queuing theory, markov model)
- Traffic circle circulation model
- Gave a speech about Mathematical modeling to 150 students.
National Innovation Project 2009-2010
- About 3 weeks, act as team member (5 people together)
- Achievement of P2P Communication among Dynamic Peripherals
- Goal: Realize economical P2P communication on cellphones and wireless terminals
- What we have done: Viewed papers on P2P communications and wrote a report.
Wireless Sensor Network Application in Drown Detection Project 2012
- Purpose: Automatically detect drown indications of a swimmer and call for help from nearby rescuers.
- Method: A swimmer is equipped with wearable sensors (light, temperature, pressure, etc), and wireless node, these sensors can detect whether the swimmer’s motion and act is normal or not, and therefore judge whether he is in danger or not, and then send the report to server in the cloud to notify nearby mobile users when necessary.
- Hardware: Berkeley micaz nodes (Based on ARM), crossbow mib300 sensor board, server in the cloud, android mobile phone and laptop
- Software: Tinyos (Linux kernal), Java
- • Work: Designed our own algorithm for drown detection and swimmer habit learning, and the program to do sensor control and notify nearby rescuers.
