Confidential
Collaboration Administrator/Team Lead
- Confidential is a local city government with approximately 3000 users across various locations within a 15 mile radius. Over the course of three years, CoA's email infrastructure has been in a constant state of transition. Early on, there was an upgrade from Lotus Notes 6.5.x to 8.5.x. Shortly following the completion of that upgrade, there was a migration to Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Services BPOS . Four months after the wrap-up of the BPOS migration, the transition to Microsoft Office 365 O365 began.
- Since this most recent transition, Confidential's daily responsibilities have been to maintain and administer the enterprise messaging environment, to include: Microsoft Exchange Online, Lync, SharePoint Online, Lotus Domino legacy apps , Active Directory, ForeFront, Encryption and DLP, Archiving, and mobile/tablet devices. He also collaborates with other departmental staff as needed to help improve the City of Alexandria's overall IT capabilities.
- Mr. Wilson's biggest challenge to date has been to ensure that users continue to receive quality service while learning how to manage an email environment within a hosted environment. With limited resources and tight deadlines, Mr. Wilson and his team were successfully able to move 3000 users through three different email platforms in less than three years. This required a great deal of flexibility and creativity to adjust to unexpected issues, management expectations, and requirements that frequently arose. Current projects center around O365 Email Encryption/Data Loss Prevention, Directory Synchronization upgrade, Email Archiving/E-Discovery, and evaluating various AD integration tools to provide a single sign-on solution for the enterprise.
