Data files were indexed sequential VSAM and were maintained on-line by CICS programs and batch updates. Data was maintained on circuit, equipment and lease levels. The system tracked and reported on Telex equipment which was supposed to be a dying business. It is still operational today and responsible for almost 20 of the division's revenue. For Dean Witter, on a project team with Deloitte Touche, we developed a commodities fund Cornerstone trading system in COBOL utilizing IDMS on the mainframe. Input data was entered on PCs utilizing Microfocus COBOL programs and then uploaded to the mainframe. The system handled multiple funds with varied minimum investment amounts. I was responsible for programming the major update program and trouble shooting the system. I also developed a LOTUS spreadsheet with appropriate formulas showing all test transactions designed by the Deloitte Touche auditors and the expected results. The spreadsheet was used to compare against program output.
