- Lead programmer for a rating system for Commercial Jewelers Block Insurance line.
This application calculated policy premiums and could be run live, in batch or during the night cycle. This application used IBM’s Integrated Language Environment (ILE) to compile the live and batch CLs, the main rating engine, the 45 modules or steps of rating and calculation sub-procedures into one application. I developed the Management CLs, the main rating engine and the more sophisticated rating modules. I also was in charge of creating the binding directories used for compilation.
- Lead programmer for a rating system for Commercial Jewelers Standard line. This was scaled down version Business Owners Property offered to small business owners. This system followed the same format as the previous.
- Designed and developed our Forms System. Jewelers Mutual Insurance is a very specialized insurance company, for this reason, Jewelers wanted to create an in-house system to manage all the paper leaving the building. The design needed integrate a data queue for both interactive and batch formsets, a main engine that managed the formset generation, and print queues for printing and imaging formsets. The design also needed a program that handled all static forms and programs for each variable from. I programmed the data queue program for live and batch, and the main engine. The main engine generated each form, managed the formset, copied the spool files to print queues for printing or imaging and also managed the printers in a dataarea rotation. If a form was not generated the formset was not printed and an error report was given to the underwriter of the policy. All of the above is still used by Jewelers Mutual Canada.
- Jewelers Mutual has now purchased a server based system to handle all transactions for commercial and personal lines. This purchase was made to improve productivity and technology.
During the development of this system, I was assigned to the Reports Team. I created mainly financial and claims reports, using Microsoft Transact-SQL stored procedures and Crystal Reports. These reports were produced from the transactional database or from the financial data warehouse.
- Enhancement to Business Owners Property line v1.01, v1.02 and a major revision 2.00.
- Enhancement to Jewelers Block Insurance line v1.01.
- Enhancement to Jewelers Standard line v1.01 and v1.02.
- Creation Policy inquiry program using sub-files.
