EXPERIENCES:
Senior Engineer - DSP in advanced Confidential. MD Jun. ’05-present
- Designed, developed, simulated, and modeled advanced real-time embedded digital signal processing algorithms using adaptive filters, Kalman filters, dynamics and statistical analysis with inertial sensors including accelerometer and gyroscope for embedded free-space 3D navigation and pointing technology used for FreespaceTM 3D motion sensing for human input devices and motion control products.
- Advanced algorithms from concepts to prototype (Matlab), finally into the end products (embedded C/C++) through quantitative verification.
- Planed and led the project of 3D angular-position real-time estimation using a tri-axis accelerometer and a tri-axis gyroscope, thoroughly completely tracked and documented the entire design and development efforts process.
- Researched and developed an advanced complete real-time magnetometer-calibration algorithm including compensating hard-iron and soft-iron effects, achieved best accuracy using least processing time and memory against others.
- Researched and developed a real-time magnetic near-field tracking and compensation algorithm, which made the magnetometer practical useful in consumers’ home entertainment environment.
- Designed and developed an embedded algorithm for real-time on-line dynamically tracking zero-rate output of inertial sensors, enabled the 3D navigation and pointing technology feasible even with extreme low cost sensor system.
- Designed and created a fully automatic regression and Monte Carlo simulations architecture and tests for algorithms performance test across variations of sensors, motions, and calibrations; developed each specification metric and analysis methods, which ensured the designed algorithms meet high performance requirements and helped to make the specifications for products.
- Optimized algorithms in both floating-point and fixed-point domain for speed and memory, fit into the tight and even cheaper embedded budgets.
- Developed core technology used in the Logitech Mx Air, Kodak Theater HD Player, UEI Dolphin, Hillcrest Loop, LG Magic Motion gesture remote and others.
- Listened to, supported, and advised customers such as Logitech, LGE, UEI, Ensky, and Creative etc.
- Developed a gesture-identification algorithm, implemented a GUI in both Java and C++, demonstrated in CES.
- Managed the code releases and optimizations of FreespaceTM motion sensing algorithm, and tremor research project.
