• Quite simply, I discovered, planned, migrated and modernized their critical IT infrastructure.
• Discovered/mapped SAN infrastructure, virtual systems infrastructure (vSphere and AIX), physical systems infrastructure (to include AIX, vSphere, and physical systems), storage infrastructure, application infrastructure, and business logic infrastructure.
• Architected and orchestrated the selection, purchase, and standup of over $2.6 million in new SAN, enterprise storage, systems, and infrastructure that facilitated the virtualization of both the systems and storage for the utility across three datacenters.
• Architected, planned, and executed migration of over 100 enterprise systems and SAN 250TB of storage from deprecated datacenter to new systems/storage in metro location.
• Helped institute RFI/SOW/POC process at Austin Energy to manage vendors, set expectations, define success criteria, and develop plans to manage these complex project.
• Provided extensive technical input on a variety of tangential projects, including storage virtualization and backup modernization (move from tape to disk-based backups). Provided technical assistance in installing and managing IBM SVC (SAN Virtualization Controller) clusters at three datacenters, installing and migrating to new enterprise SAN infrastructure, and implementing 1 Petabyte of VSP storage for use with vSphere and AIX/VIO servers.
• Project lead for successful execution of complex, critical upgrade of IBM TAM/TIM/LDAP infrastructure that protects the enterprise’s Web/App/DB tiers and authenticates/authorizes internal and 325,000 external customer users of the internet and intranet-facing web applications, including highly critical Customer Care & Billing (bill payment/account management), Online Customer Care (custom CRM solution), and multiple GIS/outage reporting tools as well as many others. This project not only modernized their identity management/LDAP environment, it also re-architected the existing single-entry solution into a dual-site HA solution with GSLB load balancing and session + LDAP database replication.

• Mapped, stabilized, and documented critical SAN storage at production and standby datacenters. Upgraded and patched critical software components that were in an unsupported state (EMC PowerPath, EMC Replication Manager, EMC Solutions Enabler).

• Key member of agency architecture group in implementing erection of Oracle OFM stack, GIS solution (ESRI ArcGIS), and supporting infrastructure of critical projects.
• Consolidated five heterogeneous tape libraries into a single tapeless backup system (Data Domain) that provided enormous returns on physical, administrative, and financial fronts. This also unified the backup infrastructure for the mainframe, AIX, and distributed (Windows/Linux) environments, a huge administrative win.
• Architected MS Exchange migration (from 2003 to 2010), implemented new backup/restore technology (NetApp SME and SMBR) that virtually eliminated the mailbox restoration time and overhead on the backup team while enhancing performance and availability.
