Ambulatory Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Once SSM held its EMR vendor selection demonstration event; EPIC was selected as the electronic medical record system. I assumed responsibility for the ambulatory needs of the EMR journey comprising of 8 individual medical groups, 24 storefront rehabilitation centers and Cardinal Glennon Pediatric clinic operation,
  • Based on system build sessions and projected ambulatory need I created a unique EPIC Ambulatory Implementation Model which was later adopted by other health systems after our initial successes.
  • The SSM ambulatory team successfully implemented EPIC’s Ambulatory software within St Louis region with exceptional success. Two weeks after the install team left a site - a mandatory post go-live end user satisfaction survey was filled out by every user of the system. This survey measured the effectiveness of system functionality, quality of the training provided, timeliness & respect of go live staff, optimization of the application during the go live and an overall satisfaction with the new system. The composite score of all 14 implementation cycles, 365 providers in 49 locations was 4.82 on a 5 point Likert Scale. 5-Exceptional Performance, 4-Above Average, 3) Good, 2) Below Average, 1) Poor Performance .
  • At Cardinal Glennon 38 Pediatric Specialty departments sponsoring 70+ pediatric sub-specialties went live big-bang and were called “a world class success - two years physician organization work in a single go live event - an exceptional collaborative outcome from an amazingly dedicated team of professionals” - Mark Stiffler VP Clinical Operations.
  • A secondary implementation effort installing “SureScripts e-prescribe & RXHub coincided with the rollout of the patient portal “SSM’s MyChart” module that allows clinical result printing, appointment scheduling and RX refill requests electronically.

Responsibilities:

  • SSM Connect - every clinical result created across the enterprise (annual average of 27.3 Million documents/images) flowed through SSM Connect and was delivered to providers as they wished via web site printing, PDA or Blackberry device. This completely configurable application was received with universal fanfare by providers, office personnel and home health providers. A physician or other provider rounding in any of the 20 hospitals had a real-time patient census and access to all clinical results for that patient via a wireless palm pilot device.
  • Physician / Nursing Portal - a configurable web page whereby all requisite SSM Connect, Clinical System, or 3rd party clinical tools were available to providers and staff.
  • Single Sign-on - this technology allowed providers and staff (22,000 staff) to access all clinical systems they were authorized to access - safely, securely with their initial log in.
  • Automated Critical/Panic Pager Alerts - this solution monitored all clinical results and when a critical or panic level result was created - the providers associated with that patient received a pager/phone text message with a secure link back to that result within 4 seconds..
  • Charge Capture Application - this solution allowed rounding physicians to chart, document their rounding activity - an auto print feature allowed office staff to print and bill same day.
  • All application development and operations support processes were defined and documented as part of the Missouri Quality Award application process outlines.
