Project Description:
The ANSI ASC X12N 837 transaction is the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandated instrument by which Health insurance claims and encounters data must be submitted to the trading partners in electronic format. EDI Claims & Encounter Processing application system receives claim and encounter envelopes from various trading partners (such as providers, clearing houses, Enterprise EDI), validates ANSI structure, Trading Partner, converts them into the WellPoint Common Format, apply the HIPAA and business edits with the help of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC). Then all the valid claims and encounters are marked as accepted and invalid are marked as rejected. All the invalid claims and encounters are wrapped up in a Rejected report and will be sent to the concerned trading partners. All the valid claims and encounters be assigned a DCN and claims will be sent to concerned down stream systems such as WGS, WDS, STAR, D950, EEDI for adjudication and encounters will be sent to Client Reporting System. All the processed claims will be sent to FileNet Image Queue (SCIQ) for online view.
The objective of this project is to support all the test and production regions to ensure the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cycles complete as per the schedule and serve the ad-hoc maintenance and enhancement requests and projects.

As an Onsite Project Leader:

Use of the tool will reduce the need for the paper Commodity Checklists currently required in the documents provided to the broker and to TJX. As TJX currently pays the Broker to perform the classification functions, immediate cost savings will be realized upon successful implementation of this application.
