Component Testbed and sPod provide automated testing and test data record/ playback environment for Component services. While Testbed is used for automated testing and provides a regression test environment for Component, sPod is used for recording/ playback of data between the application component layer and the middleware layer.
Client has decided to extend the functionality of these two existing tools to fulfil the new requirements as a common testing framework which provides flexibility in terms of environment, middleware and record/ playback mechanism to be used thus catering to a wider base of services to be tested. This common test framework/tool would be known as the Service Testbed, which will be used across all common platform applications for Java, based Services and it will enable the user to test the component as well as the Services as single tests.
