Experience Highlights:

Variety of demanding clients and projects with increasing complexity and responsibilities since 1986:

Client : Confidential, San BrunoCA Mar 2007 – May 2009
Project : Production Support, Maintenance and Enhancement
Role : Project Lead / Designer

This project provided round-the-clock production support of applications and enhancements. As a single point of contact I managed the offshore project and provided technical support to the offshore team responsible for maintenance, enhancement and production support. New applications developed or enhanced and successfully deployed included: Purchase Order Management system, Supply Chain Navigator, Enterprise Data Warehouse system, and more. In addition, had created functional design documents and data mapping documents for an ERL implementation interface development.

Software/Tools used: COBOL, DB2, CICS, Fileaid, Easytrieve, VSAM, JCL, Oracle, TOAD, VISIO, Quality Center

Client : APL (American Presidential Lines), Oakland, CA Sep 2005 – Feb 2007
Project : GFF & TAS
Role : Software Developer

GFF (Global Freight Forwarding System) was a new front-end developed and TAS (Terminal Accounting System) was an existing application. Developed the CICS programs that interface between the Java front-end and mainframe back-end and provided extensive technical support to the business users in Europe and Asia to resolve their issues during the UAT and post-production phases. In addition to this project, I did the performance tuning of an existing mainframe extract and Teradata upload process. As part of this process, had rewritten the extract and developed an archival and purge process using Teradata as the archival database. For this tuning, had coded a COBOL extract to replace the existing batch spufis in order to improve performance.

Client : Confidential, San BrunoCA May 1999 – June 2005
Project : Production Support of Inventory Systems & Other Projects
Role : Onsite Team Lead/Analyst/Developer

During the 6 year period at CONFIDENTIAL I worked in various roles as onsite team lead, system analyst and developer.
Some of the tasks performed include:

  • As part of the maintenance and enhancement team, gathered requirements for new enhancements in Inventory applications, evaluated the feasibility, did impact analysis to determine the affected components to estimate the time and cost impact, designed, developed and successfully implemented the applications
  • As onsite lead, coordinated the offshore work and performed the acceptance testing of the deliverables
  • As a data analyst for one of the Retek implementations, interacted with various test teams (system test, integration test and performance test teams) to gather data requirements for each testing phase to work out the test data preparation strategies
  • Was the team lead for offshore legacy break-fix team for another Retek implementation (a major implementation of Retek’s Merchandising system). The work involved fixing all the issues/bugs found during system and integration testing of the legacy interface. These interfaces consisted of CICS programs using MQ queues
  • Did on-call production support (24*7) for Inventory applications developed on COBOL, DB2, IMS DB, VSAM & CICS (challenges included fixing high-severity production abends/issues within an SLA of one hour)
