SUMMARY:

  • Experience of 20+ years as a senior IT and business professional working in both commercial and Federal environments that includes: Information Technology Services, Financial, Insurance, Healthcare, Retail and Manufacturing.
  • My skills and experience are a balance among business, project management, technical, team leadership and creating IT solutions to solve business problems. At the same time, maintaining a focus toward delivering quality customer service, value to the business and the bottom line.
  • I enjoy leading and working with a highly motivated team in a collaborative setting where I understand the alignment with corporate strategy and can measure the value that is being produced.
  • I can quickly understand the issues at hand and am able to translate complex requirements into solutions that are more easily understood by technical and non - technical colleagues.
  • Timely communication with C-level, business leaders, project stakeholders, technical staff, clients and vendors is a strong skill.
  • I have an eye for detail with broad IT experience that is deep in some areas, but I do not favor any technology over another.
  • I balance the detail with the big picture, keep initiatives within context, facilitate communications and find what works best.
  • My team leadership and project management experience has been a mix of application development, infrastructure deployments, integrating dis-similar systems due to acquisitions or business unit consolidations, event planning, offering development, governance standards, PMO processes, data center initiatives, disaster recovery and business continuity using a variety of methodologies including Agile, SCRUM, DevOps, Kanban, hybrid and waterfall.
  • Much of this experience involves managing multiple projects of varying complexity across the company’s various information systems and with teams from multiple locations and cultures.
  • For IT operations, I believe that clear communication, stakeholder management, alignment with corporate strategy and a focus on continuous improvement are vital for delivering quality results. This encompasses all aspects of program management and business systems operations including: intake coordination, backlog scrubbing, planning, requirements & integration analysis, prioritization, development, status reporting, testing, implementation & handover, maintenance, budget & resource management, reporting, tools, processes, and overall team performance.
  • When working with a set of integrated initiatives (a program), one of the techniques I use is to map the integration points among the projects and model the relationships of the milestones from each project.
  • I favor Agile frameworks because of the focus toward delivering quality, value, and the mindset of quickly adapting to change. But like technologies it is more about what works best in an organization.
  • My approach is consultative and collaborative. My primary guideline with colleagues is “Respect and No Surprises”.

Senior IT Project Manager & Business Analyst

Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio team management for IT projects that support business initiatives for Plant Operations, Sales, Financial Services and data centers;
  • Optimizing workflow processes among technology and business teams including governance and compliance with corporate standards;
  • Product Owner for Request Management applications system development and operations;
  • Assisting and other team members with project planning; data center initiatives and working with business units for new construction and existing site expansions that have IT requirements including: servers, storage, structured cabling (fiber, copper, etc.), passive infrastructure, WAN & wireless network, A/V and end user devices.
  • Our department was receiving requests from business units for IT matters related to consultations, solution designs, estimates/quotes and project services. Requests were made by email, skype chats, phone calls, hallway conversations. Information was being lost resulting in ongoing escalations. The PIC tools were inadequate and service levels were suffering.
  • I led a team to develop a request management system. This tool streamlined requirements gathering from the business units and allowed for better tracking, reporting, prioritization and transparency. The result was reduced escalations, better communications and improved service level metrics. This application system is currently being evaluated for migration to a cloud platform.
  • BMW senior management recognized the value of implementing Agile and DevOps techniques and began implementing a corporate strategy shift to embrace these methods. IT Americas management decided that they needed a way to accelerate adoption of this strategy shift within the Americas IT staff.
  • It was decided that a Confidential would be held for BMW IT professionals to address the need. I accepted the challenge to lead a team of colleagues from various departments to plan, develop and conduct the Symposium even though I had no event planning experience. The event was modeled after industry technology conferences and focused on collaboration across technology and business teams based on real-life situations. Topics included: DevOps, Agile Scrum, Cyber Security, Micro Services, Cloud strategies, Real Time Operational Intelligence, project financials, leading across cultures, data analytics and many more. More than 130 colleagues attended from five countries in the Americas as well as colleagues from Europe. Senior management recognized the project team for delivering an event that was a huge success.
  • The BMW Americas data centers were experiencing rapid growth, floor space was becoming scarce, new technologies needed to be implemented to support the business, consolidations were needed and there was no space and no funding for new construction.
  • A data center consolidation project and a new storage deployment project were launched as a complimentary program. I was assigned to be the project manager. The consolidation project doubled rack capacity for physical servers and increased network access speeds for servers. The new storage platforms provided increased capacity, reduced floor space and increased network access speeds.
