Scrum Master/Agile Coach
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for a full agile enterprise level transformation where I applied a framework to 11 teams totaling 93 team members. All teams saw substantial improvement in their throughput and quality. I helped to refine and establish the framework company wide, training new hires and ensuring our standards are followed consistently.
- Each team experienced an increase in velocity. More importantly they all learned how to deliver in increments.
- My teams also experienced a major reduction in defects and learned the proper form for logging and responding to these defects as they arise.
- All teams learned first - hand that there is always room for improvement. Each team challenged themselves to do better and never become complacent.
- Teams also experienced the value of having cross property roadmaps for projects that were interdependent, when we launched the SSO initiative and migrated to a new secure accounts site. This was made possible by getting the Business and Product Owners fully engaged.
- When I arrived the teams wrote the stories, the business didn’t understand their role. I helped identify POs, and explained that their goals should drive the creation of scope. They now write and refine their own stories.
- Helped the business understand how to break down epics/features, and the importance of prioritization, and frequent demos to ensure rapid, on target delivery.
- I helped the teams gain resource visibility across multiple strategic roadmaps so that we could shift people from a group to the most time sensitive value stream instead of looking for new hires.
- I trained the scrum masters to track in a way that bubbled all the roadmaps together giving clear visibility into the program and portfolio level so they could take strategic action to change resource allocation, release date, scope, and funding. Product owners can now clearly speak to the entire company roadmap, putting them in a position to drive and act strategically.
- We also created visibility around cross organizational dependencies by ensuring requirements would go through all dependent parties (creative, legal, etc.) before they met the Definition of Ready for teams to begin work. This removed delay and rework cycles.
