  • For the last the last 4 years, I've been directing the Software Design and Architecture at Owen Software. As the first employee of Owen Software, along with its CEO conceptualized a SaaS solution that provides Academic and Career Planning tools to students and professionals. The product includes a Pathway Generation Engine that outputs possible paths related to a starting and ending point, a set of assessments that helps the user identify their academic and professional interests that are then fed into the planning tool. The solution also includes a Content Explorer offering search features and information about the academic and career options.   • DeVry Online Services, a division of confidential., was embarking on a journey to improve the effectiveness of the organization through enhanced collaboration between business groups and to improve the efficiency of delivery of the enabling IT services. DeVry Online Services works in a geographically disparate environment with 6 locations and multiple functional groups e.g. Student Finance, Academics, Student Services, IT, etc. making information sharing a challenge. Each group has taken their own course to support their business needs adding cost and complexity for operating as a unit. This has resulted in there being a lack of commonality and only limited tools in place for people to collaborate within and across groups/departments. Unreal Developer Network UDN . The required web support engine enhancements were extensive enough for EPIC to call for a complete overhaul of the site's structure, ultimately necessitating a complete migration of the existing UDN functionality away from the current support site's Twiki based platform and onto a completely redesigned site architecture utilizing the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server development platform MOSS 2007 . A new Wiki for support documentation was then custom-built based on the MOSS 2007 platform. Additionally, the best practices of the as-is mailing list platform which currently provide a vehicle for submitting and responding to licensed developer support requests was re-created and improved upon as a more robust Threaded Discussion forum in the new UDN web site.   • Performed a month long proof of concepts related to MOSS 2007 and Windows Workflow Foundation. The proof of concepts consisted of validating MOSS 2007 features and how they can fulfill Babson's business requirements related to a highly transactional electronic trading application with related workflows. The solution led to using MOSS 2007 Business Data Catalog, custom workflows, and custom Web Parts to dummy-down the TO-BE system.   • Led the implementation of a major Migration of over 2000 sites from WSS 2.0 to WSS 3.0. About 20 of these sites were highly customized with overall content size of approximately 1.5 Terabytes.   • I worked with the Office of Communication to design and develop a Project Lifecycle Management tool that provided the following capabilities:
  • Project Indicators: At the project's birth, the project management review board agrees and assigns indicators to the new project. These indicators include information about the type of the project, complexity level, visibility and other information that systematically determines the type of process Development Case to apply to the project. Once the project is assigned a Development Case, a project work space is then created that includes the phases, disciplines, workflows, workers, and artifacts to be delivered.
  • Resource Management: When a project is created, a Project Manager is assigned to the project that then includes the team members based on availability and skill sets. An email is then generated and sent to the newly added members with the link to the project's workspace.
  • Collaboration: Every discipline's team lead is then provided with a discipline page with forms to report on the work progress, risk, issues and tasks statuses. Team leads and team members also participate in drafting technical and design documentation related to the project based on boilerplates pre-defined for the project depending on the applied process.

  • The United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General USPS-OIG envisioned the concept of a Virtual Village Knowledge Portal initiative that allows a single entry-point to the organization's content, people and resources. The Virtual Village integrates all the internal and external applications and data sources necessary for OIG employees to perform their job and for the organization to streamline its business processes. Two main milestones were identified at the start of the project: A first phase where the scope, concepts and the implementation level of effort are identified and developed and a second phase where the actual technology implementation takes place.
  • Phase 1: Scope and Concept of Operations: As a Portal Solutions Architect, I worked closely with the OIG stakeholders and top executives to formulate the project's Vision, business goals and objectives pertaining to the organization's knowledge management. To fulfill this requirement, I worked with the OIG management to select the MSBSM 2005 as the scorecard manager COTS product. During this phase I worked with the OIG Investigations management to identify the Key Performance Indicators KPSs they want to track, and define the scorecards structure and the data sources for its relevant KPIs. In the meantime, I worked with the OIG's DBA's to design the OLAP staging database that contains the reporting data elements prior to exporting its data into OLAP cubes that are then used by the MSBSM 2005.
