The Mainframe Operations Services Group operates as a part of Confidential
Management Services Company's ZMSC IT Infrastructure Division. This Group Manager position is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of the IBM System z HP NON-STOP Tandem IBM AIX/UNIX Red Hat zLinux and z/VM operating environments for the corporate data centers in Utah and Texas. We have zAAP/zIIP engines enabled and are subscribed to IBM's sub-capacity licensing. In March of 2013 Zions Bancorporation participated in IBM's ESP Early Ship Program - A program for customers to install, validate, use and comment on IBM products/solutions prior to General Availability for the new zBC12 mainframe. We successfully went into production with this system in September of 2013. This has allowed us to have the newest business class mainframe in the world and we were also able to cut our operating costs significantly. In December of 2013, we purchased a Linux only zBC12 mainframe. We are currently moving Filenet workload over to this platform. We will run this workload on the mainframe for less than half the previous hosting costs.
