WORK EXPERIENCE
- Senior Project Manager, Confidential Leads HPOM installation/removal of CAU monitoring software migration for network, system application servers. Mid-range -current and mainframe 2010-2012 Coordinates installation/infrastructure to ensure that it meets all scope, time, budget and quality expectations, through planning, controlling and managing. Identified Scope and work that needed to be performed in order to deliver the new monitoring software for multiple mid-range environments to migrate CA Unicenter to HPOM and disable, remove mapping on specified features or functions of the legacy monitoring systems.
- Major activities include preparing due diligence on severs, some with shared infrastructure. Checking Opsware for monitoring existence and access, pulling resources to engage network and firewall engineer and requirements to open Port 383 so that the monitoring system could communicate. Identified team members, Sys Admin, Wintel, UNIX, DBAs, Tools Engineers, Tower Leads, Account Team. Planning included all change controls, connectivity, defining work waves, submit IMACs for adding custom attributes, FRCRs to open port 383, resolving NAT IP ranges for servers in scope, implementing agents on servers from non- monitoring to monitoring status. Schedule server planning in Waves, determined by client maintenance schedules. Risk mitigation included determining root cause analysis example: high CPU utilization server communication issues upfront, assigning firewall and network resource for escalation, preparing correct server patching and version identification and build capacity before agent rollout.
- Licensing budgets were prepared/ordered to the forecasted availability. Worked to reduce cost by identifying client cost savings by removing CAU mapping. Project methodology included SDLC. Tools utilized, client agent inventory and ADMS EDS client tool used to identify server work outages. Full project lifecycle involved scheduling dev, test and production servers for cutover, followed by production acceptance, configuration management per client. Biggest challenge: Managing multiple environments and many different metrics collected for various clients. These client were identified having infrastructure where monitoring needed to have minimal impact, CPU, memory and disk footprint needed evaluation. Some UNIX servers did not have enough memory, a SYS Admin would be required to increase in order to install the monitoring agent. Many of the clients standard tools did not meet the requirement of the agent installation, analyses were required to locate MSI, HPSA tool to install HPOM agent and bring this infrastructure analysis software to the level optimization.
- Clients project results include displacing CAU, NSM, BMC, Tivoli with HP Operations Manager, reducing the annual external license spending. Project included removing high level event flow rules to determine faster outage solutions. Scalability of HPOM servers per instance to reduce footprint of over 60 thousand management servers across 4 regions.
- Mainframe project: Data migration enhancements or rewrites of existing mainframe and midrange applications. SDLC lifecycle: Design, testing, performance, configuration, performance testing, gap analysis. Platforms used: Oses: Linux, Windows, Solaris, Frameworks: .NET, Oracle Database, Java Hardware: Confidential
