The objective of this project is to be compliant with Section 111 of the Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. Enhancements are needed in the existing Claims Management System (CMS.NET) to capture the required data elements for reporting to government. SCE is a NGHP (Non Group Health Plans) and must report its Workers Compensation liability claims to government starting second calendar quarter of 2012.

Project 2: eDiscovery
A program has been initiated to implement e-discovery (Electronic Discovery) in SCE. The program has been started to comply with rules and regulations pertaining to the discovery of electronic information in numerous legal jurisdictions including the Federal and California State courts. In order to meet the requirements of these rules, the company must be able to identify, preserve, collect, review, and produce electronic information in a legally defensible manner as specified in the regulations within the required deadlines.
The plan is to implement e-Discovery solution in a phased manner
Phase 1 Phase1 would implement Legal Hold part of EDRM (eDiscovery reference model). Legal hold is the process of placing a lock on any potential material information where it resides on the network and modifies file permissions so the file cannot be moved or deleted except by the Legal Hold Owner.

Target date to complete the eDiscovery program is Oct 2012.
