Sr. Solutions Architect
Confidential, New Orleans, LA
Responsibilities:
- The bulk of my job here was to assist in designing a better solution for their data center. And also knowledge-transfer. I taught the Confidential SAN personnel the use and functionality of EMC Control Center, Performance Manager and Confidential Scope.
- I implemented the installation of Control Center to centralize management of their SAN. The Confidential SAN, implements the SAN virtualization technology. They have IBM SAN Virtualization Controller, behind which is an EMC Confidential array: Symmetrix-DMX3, DMX4, and DMX 3000. The meta-devices on the DMX are virtualized into MDISKs and eventually presented to servers in the form of VDISKs. I assisted in the design architecture and operational administration of SVC.
- This environment had only Cisco switches: two MDS 9513 and several Cisco New Edge Blade servers. Embedded in these 9513’s were Generation 1 SSM cards, which we used for Recovery Point data protection. As a certified SAN specialist, I assisted in maintaining their SAN effectively.
- I did lots of performance analysis on their environments to ensure efficiency.
- I designed and set up alert notifications within ECC to aware the Confidential personnel when vital incidents happen to their SAN like disk failures, FA failures etc.
