The current Ford Motor Company customer data repository application CKS Customer Knowledge Services is built on top of a core database platform that is 15 years old formerly known as CUPID . The current platform does not meet the requirements of the major marketing initiatives.The current application is inflexible hard coded costly, time consuming and error prone with respect to change. This substantially increases the cost and time to market for new users / functionality. Examples of the impact of this situation include:
- High entry cost for new user groups and programs i.e. integrating new brands, new marketing channels, new partners, etc . Tightly coupled systems do not allow for easy and cost effective entry into CKS.
- Currently CKS does not have the ability to effectively un-merge customers that may have been merged in error.
- Currently the CKS data lag could be as much as 24 hours for data to flow through the applications. This does not support new digital initiatives for on-line personalization and real time campaigning.
